Northern Manitoba Trappers Festival Opens With Dog Derby
The Pas begins the 29th annual Northern Manitoba Trappers Festival with the World Championship Dog Derby kicking off at 10:00 a.m. from the Saskatchewan River foot of Edwards Avenue. Festivities run Friday through Sunday with dog derbies, novelty events, ice worm clues, Hi-Lites, stage shows, and a Miss Fur Queen crowning, as catalogued in last week’s HERALD and festival booklets.

Premachuk Resigns From Councillor Roles Questioned
At the February 10 council meeting Councillor Don Manych pressed Premachuk’s resignation from her committee posts. Premachuk cited a January 22 1976 letter accusing the Mayor of arranging a recreation meeting without council consultation, violating section 138 d of the Municipal Act. The issue left the Protective Services Committee and Recreation Commission without chairs.
