On February 8, after their regular meeting, about 100 Valentine Boxes were prepared for senior citizens at St Pauls and Eventide Homes. The annual project also serves elderly shut-ins and relatives, under the Operation Valentine effort.
Elks Hall hosts Trappers Festival with curling play offs on February 11 featuring Flin Flon Thompson and Snow Lake teams. Opasquia school kids donate 168 for March of Dimes. Tug of war anchor man needed, training underway, and Keep at the Hall urged for volunteers. Kinship notes Ron Olson welcomed as new Kinsmen member.
Kin Lyn outlines plans for the festival dog races with daily Kinsmen required. Work crews are set for the weekend and a prize float is prepared. Members anticipate broom ball and tug of war, curling, entertainment, and a socio economic survey meeting on February 28. Next meeting February 23 at 8 00 p.m.
The air cadets form two curling teams led by Sgt Dominick Sat Street Cpt Bernstrom and others. Practice runs Sundays at 7 00 p m with team members Sgt Clarkson Sat Bernstom Cpt Long and Sgt Madrigga set to curl against Swan River in the future.
Two cadets served as honour guards at the Legion Hall as Flight Sgt Richards moved from one squadron to another in Thompson. The rifle range meets every 2nd Thursday and there is hope for gym use at the school soon. February 5th notes the model airplane club activity.
