Santa Claus visited St Pauls Residence last Thursday bringing Legion Ladies Auxiliary members to entertain and hand out candy and gifts to all 70 residents. Christmas Baby At St. Anthony's
A baby girl was born on Christmas Day at St. Anthony's Hospital to Veronique and Edward Bighetty. Born at 2 45 p m the seventh daughter to the family, the parents have not named the child yet. Mr Bighetty, 36, works as a trapper at Pukatawagan where the family resides.

Jack L King Memorial Fund Established in The Pas
A memorial fund is set up for Dr Jack L King a long time dentist in The Pas. He served northern Manitoba clinics under Dr Ralph Connor before retiring in 1963 after surgery and later ran Dr Jerry Harwood's practice. He married Anne Sookavieff in 1963 and died in 1967 leaving two children Shaun and Amy. Northern Manitoba dental society organizes a follow up drive.

Opasquia Elementary on Eighth Street near Gordon Avenue may officially open in January if plans stay on schedule. School officials report progress on brief for The Pas MLA
Kelsey School Division officials say progress on a brief for Ron McBryde MLA The Pas is satisfactory. Superintendent Harold Grundy and others met with Mr McBryde Peter Wilby and Jim Whitford in Winnipeg on December 16 in a productive session and expect possible immediate financial assistance as early as January. Grundy met Whitford again December 29 in Winnipeg and hopes to finalize the brief outlined at the December 16 meeting.
