Cranberry Portage Man Killed In Three Vehicle Highway Crash
A 43 year old Cranberry Portage man Erken Hentschel died Friday December 10 in a three vehicle crash on Highway 10 about 35 miles north of The Pas near Mitchill Lake. The collision involved a 1967 Pontiac, a 1974 Ford pickup driven by Gregory Brown 26 of Flin Flon, and a 1974 GMC van. Weather and icy roads contributed to the crash. Brown was hospitalized for two days. Yaremko uninjured. A post mortem is ordered in Winnipeg and an inquest is pending. No charges expected.

Manitoba official receives humane trapping award in Toronto
Robert Burns of Manitoba Renewable Resources and Transportation Services has been honored by the Canadian Association for Humane Trapping at its international conference in Toronto. The award cites his outstanding contributions to humane fur bearers’ trapping methods as part of a government program that includes schools grants traps and experimental trappers. Burns, with the department since 1951, helped organize the Manitoba Registered Trappers Association in 1972 and coauthored the Manitoba Trappers' Guide published in 1963.
