Glue sniffing incident prompts probation response in The Pas
Roger Bates of Probation Services reports four juveniles picked up by RCMP in The Pas for glue sniffing. He notes it is the first such incident in 18 months and recalls a larger problem two years ago with about 10 twelve year olds in Kelsey Housing Estates. Social Services ran an education and counselling program. Ralph Harling cites Winnipeg research linking glue sniffing to hallucinogenic effects and potential brain and liver damage. Henry Shore cautions that small communities face rapid spread through few peer groups while larger towns may detect it slower.
