The Lieutenant-Governor Richard Bowles and Mrs Bowles will visit The Pas for the 1966 Trap Persons Festival arriving February 11 and departing February 12. Bowles was appointed to the post in August this year.

Residence of The Pas anticipates a Christmas Concert featuring The Essentials Orchestra. RCMP report a string of dog poisonings in the Uptown area with three deaths last weekend and two earlier incidents. One dog was slashed and killed. a meat piece found on Edwards Avenue is under Regina analysis. Nearby residents fear risk to children.

Town of The Pas ends talks on extra RCMP staffing

The Pas council and provincial attorney general Hon. Stewart McLean concluded no further discussion on increasing the local RCMP force unless initiated by Ottawa. McLean said The Pas contract covers a seven member force and that contracts are negotiated between Ottawa and the RCMP, with no extra officers likely without federal action.

Lions Present 100 Dollar Check and Box of Goodies

The Pas Lions Club last week presented The Pas for Retarded Children with a 100 dollar check to defray operating expenses. The.box of goodies was packed by Lions for lunch and recess breaks. Lion’s President Hazel Profit led the presentation to head teacher Mrs Margaret Davidson with Mrs Marion Sawatzky and Lion Pat Moreton also pictured.

Decoration Contest at The Pas by Chamber of Commerce

Residents in The Pas are automatically entered in the Chamber of Commerce Outdoor Home Decoration Contest. Judging by three judges will occur between Christmas and New Year. Prizes include 25 dollars for best decoration and 15 dollars and 10 dollars for other top homes.

New Curling Rink Opens at The Pas Club Ceremony

The official opening of The Pas Curling Club artificial ice plant featured bagpipe music by the Carnegie brothers and a grand march with rinks from local clubs Flin Flon Thompson Hudson Bay and others. Mayor Trager cut the ribbon with Don Fischer and Bill Donaldson assisting Swede Grant threw the first rock. A banquet at the Legion Hall followed by a dance capped a celebratory afternoon.

Wild horses spark taxpayer claims over Grand Rapids dam

About sixty wild horses in the Moose Lake area were said to lose hay meadows to flood waters from the Grand Rapids dam. Residents claim damage and seek compensation or hay from the Grand Rapids Forebay Committee, which handles Hydro project claims. The committee has previously managed relocations and village reconstruction for Moose Lake.

Two Local Residents Aboard DC 3 Crash at Lynn Lake

Two Pas residents Stu Corbett and Bert Hayes were aboard a TransAir DC-3 that crash landed at Lynn Lake after takeoff Friday afternoon. Eighteen aboard. no injuries. Pilot Captain Fred Meadows praised for handling. Passengers include three children. no panic reported.
