The 1966 Trappers Festival Booklet will honor past The Pas Dog Derby champions with a photo gallery. The festival committee requests mushers or others in The Pas and Northern Manitoba to provide images for inclusion, aiming for a complete compilation in the booklet.
A Winnipeg radio personality Cliff Gardener of CJOB will be master of ceremonies at several Trappers Festival events in February. Dates include February 9 11 12 19 with the CNR Trappers Special departing Winnipeg February 9 returning February 13.
Cliff will handle master of ceremonies chores at the Fur Fashion Show and Tea in the Collegiate Auditorium on Friday and Saturday afternoons. Also at the Musher’s Banquet Friday evening and the Festival Highlights Show Saturday night in The Pas Arena. Damien Gior to speak at the Musher’s Banquet.
The Kinette Club presents a one night only Christmas Carol Festival on Tuesday December 7 at 7 30 P M in the Collegiate Auditorium. Proceeds benefit the Retarded Children's Association and The Salvation Army with choirs from local churches the Salvation Army Youth Band DM Chorus school groups The Pas Reserve and Guy Indian School performing. Tickets at the door 50 cents adults 25 cents students.
The Sanatorium Board announces expansion of tuberculosis control with a Northern Tuberculosis Unit at 3% Ross Avenue. It will offer x ray and minor laboratory services and operate around i. Dr Stuart L Carey will supervise, continuing as Northern Tuberculosis Control Officer since Clearwater Lake Hospital closed last February.

The Town Eyes Public Utilities Board action to cut local power rates after Hydro cuts the April 1 rate by a half cent. The Pas Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Trager, and others urge faster relief while questioning Section 42 and Hydro’s choice of methods. A Grand Rapids line is planned for December 1 1968 to align The Pas with Swan River rates.
Johnny Heuchert of Carling’s congratulates Gordon Doverspike of Flin Flon, winner of a Skidoo major award in a draw sponsored by the Northern Game and Fish Federation.
Raymond Simpson son of Mr and Mrs Robert Bud Simpson MP died Tuesday November 23 in hospital Edmonton at age 24. Funeral service held Saturday November 27 at Flin Flon. He is survived by his wife one young daughter his parents and two sisters.
The Pas hosts hockey activity with games for Tom Thumb and Pee Wee divisions this Saturday. About 250 boys are registered across leagues this season and team personnel appear on page 8 of this week’s Herald.
The Pas Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual dinner meeting this Thursday at Nor-Lite Hall. A reception begins at 6:00 PM and supper is served at 7:00 PM. Guest speaker is the Hon. George Hutton Manitoba Minister of Agriculture.

Festival executive approves Central Grounds events at Halcrow Lake with dog and motorized races, tug of war and pole climbing. Adam Sus coordinates activity and space with Lions and Kinsmen, Fort Opasquai and Ice Palace to anchor three day program including the World Canadian Doe Derby and Steelans Marathon Snow Show.
