The Pas schools will close tomorrow and reopen Tuesday September 4th to align with a provincial Labor Day holiday. The School Board decides the extra day to qualify for government grants, with Education Minister Stewart McLean announcing the public holiday.
The CFAR station in Flin Flon will air a special two hour program this Sunday at 12:05 noon marking a Golden Jubilee. The focus is on local CKOS-TV Yorkton coverage with limited MLA tour references and CFAR plans to make the film available to the CBC.
The Jubilee celebration opened with a 10 am parade featuring 61 entries challenging judges. Knights of Columbus won first in Non Commercial with John Brechette accepting for KC. Second prize went to Local Square Dance Club presented by Premier Duff Roblin.

The map, printed by a provincial department, mentions Clearwater Lake with pickerel as the main sport fish and calls the lake Clear Lake, prompting questions at a local chamber meeting.
A hungry brown bear broke into the Godin cabin at mile 18 on Clearwater Lake around 10 30 Sunday night. The screen door window and front door were damaged and the interior ransacked prompting Bert and Etta Hutton to relocate to Eric Carpenter's camp. The incident was reported to the Game Department Monday morning.
The Pas Herald will publish on Thursday September 6 to align with a long weekend. After this issue the paper returns to its regular Wednesday schedule for the following week.
