Giant CL44 lands at The Pas with turbine parts
The The Pas Airport welcomed a large modified CL44 Turbo Prop Freight airliner from the United Kingdom carrying a 16 ton alternator stator for the Tur bo-Generator at The Pas Industrial Complex. The ship, operated by Trans Meridian Air Cargo Ltd, had landed at 10 30 a m after an earlier takeoff problem forced a re landing. The flight covered about 500 miles and took roughly 14 1/2 hours. Captain Clee praised the runway and landing conditions.

First Race Opens Pas Stock Car Club Track
The Pas Stock Car Club opened its new track after months of planning. About 500 spectators watched ten local cars race amid heavy dust reducing visibility. Repairs and improvements are planned for next week including washrooms, a public address tower, and better dust control.

Public Hearing on Clean Environment Licences Held at The Pas
The Clean Environment Commission met in The Pas on August 11 1970 to hear submissions on licences for Consol waste disposal grounds St Anthony’s Hospital incinerator Churchill Forest Industries industrial discharges and related concerns. Buffalo Injures Vehicle on No 10 Highway
A car driven by Mr Lawrence Odut of Flin Shae collided with a buffalo on No 10 Highway last Monday at 1 30 am. Odut escaped injury. the vehicle sustained about 350 damage. The buffalo fled the scene and was followed for about a mile, appearing unhurt.

Tenders opened for lagoon aeration system contract
Tenders for the lagoon aeration system and related works were opened at a Town Council meeting. Only two bids were received, both from Montreal. Aero-Hydraulics offered 56 174.00 dollars, Polcon 45 304.55 dollars. The Town Consulting engineers Underwood McLellan will evaluate and report this week before the contract is let. Building tenders to house the equipment will be advertised after the contract is awarded.
