Police Work Overtime In The Pas Report

The Town of The Pas police report for June shows 437 hours overtime and 261 liquor cases. Offences include eight assaults, 15 break ins, six motor vehicle thefts, 10 thefts over 50 dollars, 15 under 50, two frauds, 36 other Criminal Codes, 261 Provincial Statutes, five hit and runs, one dangerous driving, and 10 motor vehicle accidents. Edwards Avenue remains a major problem area with the Northern Site Cafe open late and delaying patrols.

Regan Wins Golf Tournament at The Pas

The Pas and District golf tournament completed Sunday with 91 entrants from The Pas Flin Flon and Thompson. The cool weather and strong course conditions drew praise though no southern neighbors entered, a usual disappointment for organizers.

Council Unhappy Over Subdivision Fire And Faults At Site

Town Council aired issues at the southern subdivision last Wednesday noting inadequate work. Engineers reported extra gravel beyond contract need, faulty drainage with misleveled culverts, and unsealed lanes likely to lose gravel under traffic. Lift station problems left pumps nonfunctional until Manitoba Hydro staff intervened. The engineer accused Patrick Pipelines of responsibility for proper operation and trained supervision.

The CFL Woodlands project, led by Jona, received a Yukon CL44 Freight Liner shipment to Winnipeg en route to The Pas. Trade Winds Limited will charter five essential part shipments to Manitoba amid UK longshore strikes. A 30 ton load left Gatwick for Winnipeg, with Swan River The Pas Transports handling on site delivery.

Town Council Receives Citizen Letter on Vandalism

Crown Returns Seized Liquor After Court Hearing

The Crown elected to return liquor seized from a car carrying four minors near Second and Edwards. Craig Rookes, aged 21, claimed ownership and legal entitlement to sealed liquor in a vehicle. Crown Attorney said the liquor would be returned. defense sought heavy costs against the Crown amid police criticism.

Court News Remanded On Extortion Charge

Magistrate William Martin remanded Ovide Constant for one week on a charge of extortion after Constant pleaded guilty. The incident occurred on Edwards Avenue around 1 am on July 28 involving Roy Beil of Minitonas. Donald John Ross stood with Constant but pleaded not guilty to the same charge. Ross was later found not to be involved. The Crown requested a state of proceedings.

Pool Project Receives Community Donations

The Kelsey Recreation Commission lists donations from Keewatin Community College student association and instructors association plus individuals and groups.
