Sanctuary urged east of The Pas by Game and Fish
The Pas Game and Fish Association seeks a 10 square mile sanctuary about 16 miles east of The Pas including Landry Lake. President Cliff Linnen told 215 attendees the plan aims to protect wildlife and waterfowl. A resolution will be sent to the Manitoba Wildlife Federation Convention in June. He also urged distance from roads for fill material to reduce unsightly pits and for right of way to be level and clean.

Inquest Finds Bridge Construction Deaths Accidental
A coroner's jury ruled the deaths of Ralph Strand and Tony Constant accidental in a bridge site fire. Witnesses said a lowered propane tank broke its rope and dropped onto heaters below, causing propane to escape and ignite. Two workers inside the pier forms perished. others nearby escaped.
