The Pas Indian Band passed a resolution to permit direct per capita grant payments to the Reserve for Indian children in the Kelsey School Division. Chief Lathlin said Indian Affairs officials indicated the Government could pay the full grant directly to the Reserve, giving the band a say in local schooling. The move would allow the division to receive full funds from the Reserve if the Council believes its children are adequately educated.

80 Children Skate-A-Then At The Pas Arena

Commission Won't Support M H R C Housing Plan
The Pas and District Advisory Planning Commission told Council it cannot back Manitoba Housing Renewal Corporation's housing proposal in its present form. Chair Ross Fielding said the Commission needs more than the original plan and urged meeting with M H R C representatives. He warned the density is too high at about 140 residences and suggested cropping to 100 by removing a 24 unit apartment block and one bay, possibly adding two or three single dwellings. The Commission and Council discussed Wood Acres subdivision plans, with Fielding preferring the original layout for more green space for schools and parks over newer plans that reduce green areas.
