MB CIs started robin series vs Grant Park losing 325 to 240 but setting a scoring record against Grant Park. The Pas team posted 240 points the highest against Grant Park as MB CI resumes play in Winnipeg in two weeks with two chances in the four way final.

Pas Centennial Youth Group Takes Over Lido Theatre

The Pas Centennial Youth Group will manage the Lido Theatre on April 13 for two showings of National Film Board’s Nobody Waved Goodbye starring Peter Kastner. The 7 and 9 pm screenings charge 50 cents admission, with all receipts donated to support Centennial Year projects in The Pas.

Mourning follows the loss of Conservation Officer Morrish who drowned when a Muskeg tractor broke through the ice on Reader Lake Narrows during fur trapping season. Manitoba Liberal M P M N Hryhorczuk charged a proposed 100 million pulp and lumber scheme centered on The Pas would waste 40 000 square miles of land for little return. He condemned the Monaco AG deal negotiated by Premier Duff Roblin saying it would yield only 75 000 a year in stumpage and required 1 million in road funding while subsidizing the project by 7 to 10 million over 15 years. Moose Lake Festival Celebrates Fur Queen Crowning and Dog Race

The Moose Lake Festival enters its second year with a busy weekend despite poor weather. Crowning of the Fur Queen, dog races, and community dances filled the Moose Lake grounds led by sponsors such as John Bodnar and Jock McAfee. Doug Lambert won the dog race with a time of 6 hours 67 5 72 miles, earning $150 and Keystone Fisheries Ltd. Trophy.

Bill McLean Appointed NW Director

Bill McLean is named Director of the North Western Division of the Department of Mines and Natural Resources effective July 1. He succeeds Cece Patterson who retires at the end of June after 16 years with the department, having started as Forest Engineer in The Pas and rising to Director of the North Eastern District.

Paulette Bloom Nominated Miss The Pas In Trout Festival Queen Contest

The Pas Golf Club sponsors Paulette Bloom as Miss The Pas in the Flin Flon Trout Festival Queen Mermaid contest. Bloom, 20, 5 ft 4 in, 122 lb with 36 24 37 vital stats, French Canadian, Saint Anthony's Hospital employee, swims and waterskis, dances, skates and bowls. Tickets fund a new club house. The Pas quota is 1500 with 50 percent to the club.
