Mourning follows the loss of Conservation Officer Morrish who drowned when a Muskeg tractor broke through the ice on Reader Lake Narrows during fur trapping season. The 1942 43 recruit joined the Fisheries Branch later transferring to Renewable Resources. survived by wife Rose and daughter Mrs. Lawrence Bosacki.

The Moose Lake Festival enters its second year with a busy weekend despite poor weather. Crowning of the Fur Queen, dog races, and community dances filled the Moose Lake grounds led by sponsors such as John Bodnar and Jock McAfee. Doug Lambert won the dog race with a time of 6 hours 67 5 72 miles, earning $150 and Keystone Fisheries Ltd. Trophy.
