Spectacular blaze limited by local fire department
A fire tore through the old granary at Southern Aub Dairy Co yard at 9 p.m. Tuesday, threatening nearby homes but kept to a minimum by volunteers. The shed burned to the ground and lit the Clark home roof and windows, with the dairy’s large feed mill also hot and smoking. Water directed at surrounding roofs prevented spread. fuel drums and a gasoline tank posed danger but did not explode. Fire origin undetermined. damages include $300 to the dairy roof and equipment and unestimated Clark house repair costs.

Utah Voter Call Amid Tragic Beaver Homicide
An 11 year old Beav er boy Lamont Monty Thornock Jr. was killed by a stray bullet while hunting with his father and uncle near Sand Hollow. The incident occurred about 2 PM as the group hunted in a wooded area. Monty, born February 28 1941 in Cedar City, was a sixth grade student at Belnap School. Local voters are urged to participate in upcoming elections Tuesday to uphold Utah’s history of high voter turnout and choices in national, state, and local races.

Deer Drowned In Cement Reservoir Near Parowan
Vernon Heap of Parowan woke to his cow’s alarm and found a two year old doe swimming in the cement reservoir by his home. He opened the pool to drain water, corralled the animal, secured help, and later retrieved the deer with a hunting permit purchased in town. The incident notes that deer entering the pool is not uncommon, though drowning has been rare.
