A severe windstorm caused limbs to be blown from trees and fruit to be ruined in much of the town. Hay stacks lost tops and several poles were toppled, cutting power for hours. Frank frost and nearly all of Sunday and Monday left gardens in City ruined with cucumbers tomatoes and other crops damaged.
Ladies Republican group calls an Oct 6 meeting at 7 30 p m in the Court House. Attendance is emphasized for all members enabled to attend.
Officers invite West Ward to first meeting on Tuesday October 5 at 1 30 pm under direction to discuss visiting teachers and the Mount theology led by M Adams and Alberta. East Ward invites all to attend Sunday School and tabernacle broadcast. mutual classes on Astronomy led by Claude Adams OMIA. Five beet crops failed welfare garden allotment noted.
Parowan residents recall a Young Matrons Variety Club gathering hosted by Mrs. Anna Stubbs with.current events discussion, sewing, and refreshments. Parowan School faculty opened with a Chickoree dinner at Five Mile, led by Mrs. Doris Smith and a camp fire program. Veron Decker visited from Provo on his way to Denver after buying a Dodge in Los Angeles.
Florence Marsden daughter of Mr and Mrs William Marsden Parowan and Hyrum Holt of Spanish Fork married in the Salt Lake Temple on Friday Sept 24 A reception followed at the bride’s parents Parowan home with many relatives and friends in attendance The bride wore a floor length gown of white sheet with a brocaded white tafetta jacket Gladiolas and roses decorates the setting Mr Holt a World War II veteran served in the China Burma India theatre and later worked in Spanish Fork prior to starting a local business The couple plan to reside in Spanish Fork.

An open invitation to all men and women above high school age to join badminton and volleyball gatherings every Wednesday evening at the High School gym. Coach Waters marked the courts and Ed King supplied two new uprights. Participants must wear gym shoes.
Worth Orton and Ann Orton are proud parents of a baby girl born Tuesday at County Hospital. This adds a second child for the couple, joining siblings Max and Roma Bentley Dalley, who welcomed a boy early Wednesday morning. The infant is described as a fine single birth with a dozen or more in the family.
A missionary farewell in the School House auditorium honored Boyd Robinson, son of Bishop Gilbert Robinson. The Sept 25 event drew a large crowd and raised over $170 to support his upcoming mission. Victor Robinson hosted. Harold Mitchell spoke. Hazel Jean Davenport and Verdell Robison performed. Rosalind Edwards tapped. Pauline Topham read. Boyd thanked friends and classmates.
Local schools will be closed from Wednesday night through Monday morning to allow teachers to attend the Utah Education Association Institute in Salt Lake City.
At the Iron County Fair the Paragonal 4-H Style Dress Revue showcased girls who constructed and modeled their dresses. All twelve girls won blue ribbons. judge’s choice selected Donna Robinson as winner amid close deliberation. Participants included LaJean Hunt Rosemary Robinson Gaytha Lamoreaux Wanda Hunt Patricia Robb Norma Lund Eleanor Stones Jamie Robinson and supervisors Mrs Hannah Robinson Mrs Lola Robb and Mrs Reene Lund.
Iron County Republican Committee chairman Clair Hulet says a group led by U S Congressman candidate David J. Wilson will visit Iron County next Thursday October 7 with plans for entertainment. Other candidates include Mark Anderson for Secretary of State Pratt Kessler for Attorney General and Sherman Preece for State Auditor. Hulet notes registration day is Tuesday October 5.
Keen interest remains in the Five Mile lighting project as eight more people send cash donations, including two from Colorado and one from Nevada. Contributions ranged from 2 50 to 10 00 in the past week, with names listed as Mr. and Mrs. R. Taylor Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Halterman, Mr. and Mrs. Veron W. Decker, Mr. and Mrs. Herman E. Bayles, Ira Mae Cumming, Meade Warren, and Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Lister.
Miss LaNetta Lowder daughter of Mr and Mrs Marion Edgar Lowder of Los Angeles and Dean Robison son of Mr and Mrs Leslie Robison of Provo announce their January wedding The Lowder family formerly lived in Parowan where Latte and her twin LePreal attended Parowan High School They will reside in Provo after marriage Robison formerly a jockey and trained by private tutors during five years of racing plans a home in Provo after the ceremony
Mr and Mrs Harley Dalton depart for Salt Lake City to attend the Utah Pioneers Convention in the Lafayette ballroom Hotel Utah The 2 pm Saturday session features Mrs Dalton delivering a response on the Pioneer marker program in Iron County She is Iron Co DUP Camp Historian and chaired the marker project in Parowan Other convention features include a dramatization Sally Kanosh Speaks by Nevada Watson Driggs and Around the Camp Fire broadcast from KSL with Leah S Larson guiding Francis Urry as commentator
Parowan Rams, after a 24 to 6 win over Beaver and a 30 to 12 victory against Cedar, host Milford at 2 30 PM. Clair Robinson leads the offense with Morris directing the backfield as Johnson and Bentley improve while head colds keep them sidelined.
Parowan youths begin registering at colleges this week with names including Marybelle Fenton Marie Lyman Ralph Bayles Rulon Paramor and others. Adrian Dalton returns to the U S A C in Logan and Dave Hatch to Denver State College. Colleen Mickelson attends Henagey Budacey College in Salt Lake City with several others at Brigham Young University such as Raymond Wiltsey James Whitney Ralph Benson and Gordon.
The Utah Cooperative Association of Salt Lake City took control of the Uinta Refining Company at Jensen, Ash, and other assets on Monday. W. B. Robins said operation plans were enacted immediately and a temporary board from the Ash Cooperative Association was named for the new Uinta Refining Company board. Staff will remain unchanged, with Charles R. Halstead and Rodney Egan continuing in their posts. The plant has operated near full capacity of 700 bbls daily, with UCA aiming to meet basin commitments and distribute output to 20 Utah cooperative stations amid 75 percent of the company’s capitalization changing hands to the Utah Cooperative.
