Local Storm Wreaks Havoc Across Town

A severe windstorm caused limbs to be blown from trees and fruit to be ruined in much of the town. Hay stacks lost tops and several poles were toppled, cutting power for hours. Frank frost and nearly all of Sunday and Monday left gardens in City ruined with cucumbers tomatoes and other crops damaged.

Republican Candidates To Visit Iron County

Iron County Republican Committee chairman Clair Hulet says a group led by U S Congressman candidate David J. Wilson will visit Iron County next Thursday October 7 with plans for entertainment. Utah cooperative takes over Jensen refinery

The Utah Cooperative Association of Salt Lake City took control of the Uinta Refining Company at Jensen, Ash, and other assets on Monday. W. B. Robins said operation plans were enacted immediately and a temporary board from the Ash Cooperative Association was named for the new Uinta Refining Company board. Staff will remain unchanged, with Charles R. Halstead and Rodney Egan continuing in their posts. The plant has operated near full capacity of 700 bbls daily, with UCA aiming to meet basin commitments and distribute output to 20 Utah cooperative stations amid 75 percent of the company’s capitalization changing hands to the Utah Cooperative.
