The Tie Porowan Literary Club gathered at Mrs. Mary Alice Graff’s home with President Ethel Bayles presiding. Marion Lister lectured on The Indians of Our Country, detailing tribes and crafts, while Zena Topham described Hopi customs. Members approved book donations to Ogden’s Siste Industries School and enjoyed music and refreshments.

Dalton Parachute Hero Joins New York Parade
Warren A Dalton of Parowan Utah returned to Fort Bragg North Carolina with D Company 325th Glider Infantry Regiment part of the 82d Airborne Division. He marched in a New York City parade on October 26 1947 carrying the nation’s war dead as a member of America’s Guard of Honor. The 82d Airborne Division is noted for its postwar service and distinguished unit record.

Fifth Judicial District Court Holds Busy Session

County Home Agent Attends Conference Utah Visit
Iron County Home Agent Bernice S. Linford will attend the Home Agents Conference at Utah State Agricultural College in Logan on December 1 and 2. She will stop in Salt Lake to give demonstrations on food preparation health and grooming at Barrett Hall for LDS missionaries. In the past three months she has provided instruction and prepared recipes for 965 missionaries. The heavy Iron County program prevents further demonstrations this year and she will resume county duties in late December.

Parowan Native Clifford Cummings Dies in Salt Lake
Clifford Cummings of Salt Lake City died on Armistice Day after brain tumor surgery. He was husband of Violet Stevens and son-in-law of Parowan residents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Stevens. Funeral services were held at Grandview Stake House Salt Lake City. He served as LDS Church patriarch, Y M M I A leader, stake genealogical chair, and Ward bishop. Survived by Violet Stevens Cummings, son Clifford Cummings Jr., and brothers William of Brigham City Frank and Clarence of Salt Lake City.
