Iron County Tentative Budget For 1958 Reviewed
Iron County commissioners reviewed a 1958 tentative budget totaling 509 540 16 for county government excluding schools. Revenue sources include county officers fees 6894 27 fines 6056 00 and hospital fees 156 307 68 with total general taxes estimated at 1 725 561 07 based on 96 percent collection. The county students school bill totals 1 318 596 25 plus 44 698 83 for the state school equalization fund. A budget hearing will be held before December 31 with publication if no protests arise. Stern Warning To Dog Owners In Parowan
W. Scott Mitchell, Parowan mayor, issued a stern warning to dog owners to keep animals penned at night or face penalties. A city ordinance requires confinement from sundown to sunrise with fines up to 299 dollars and possible six months in jail. Outside limits, dogs running at large are predators and may be shot. The notice responds to livestock fears, especially sheep near feedlots and ranges outside town.

Funds Approved For Ash Creek Dam Project
Allocation of $80,000 of state funds was approved toward the construction of the Ash Creek Dam in Washington Do. by the Utah Water and Power Board at a meeting in Salt Lake last Saturday. Locals will raise an additional $000 to make up the state's share of the $1,600,000 project, which will on completion be a combination crossing of Ash Creek under the Interstate highway system, a flood control and water storage project. The plan contemplates expenditure by Federal funds for two bridges as would be necessary in absence of the dam cross. The dam will provide a permanent highway 103 feet wide with a better grade than the two thirty foot wide bridges. It is estimated by the Water and Power Board and other state and government agencies that the cost of the two bridges plus the $80,000 state contribution and the $33,000 local contribution will pay for the project. The plan has been discussed with state and federal officials and is subject to final approval by those agencies. Building of the project will be the first link of the new interstate highway in southern Utah.

Dale Robinson becomes manager of the Conoco service station in Parowan after purchasing from Fred Dalton who had leased it for 15 months. Robinson, son of Chester and Mrs. Robinson of Paragonah, recently returned to Utah with his wife DeLoris Thornton and family. Dalton’s plans are indefinite. State Gets First Kokanee Eggs
Utah State Department of Fish and Game announced the arrival of the first kokanee salmon rainbow and mackinaw trout eggs at state fish hatcheries. About 20 million eggs will be processed this winter, received from commercial plants in Utah and Washington. Spawn stations at Springville and Kamas hatcheries began winter operations, with about 150,000 eggs picked to date and a total expected of 5 million eggs. Hyrum Reservoir and Little Bear River upstream to Paradise were chemically treated last week to remove trash fish, though total eradication is not anticipated.
