Ten Inches of Snow Covers Parowan Valley
Parowan Valley woke Thursday to a fresh 10 inch snowfall after a 36 hour storm that began Tuesday evening. Observed by Clayton Rasmussen the total precipitation reached .76 inches with 8 inches falling Wednesday and 2 more Thursday morning bringing totals to 10 inches and .76 inches of moisture. Temperatures ranged from 24 to 40 degrees. The snow creates grazing difficulties for livestock but promises ample irrigation water for farmers next season.

Mrs Emerson Adams underwent an operation Tuesday at Iron County Hospital for a long standing ailment and expects to return home by week’s end. She and husband Mr Adams have lived in Spokane Washington for 15 years and will winter here to aid in outdoor work and livestock. Mrs David Penrod was operated on for appendicitis at Iron County Hospital Sunday evening and is expected home on Friday.

Betty Jean Lund of Paragonah represents Iron County in the Best 4-H Record contest. At twelve, daughter of Mr and Mrs Wilson Lund, she has completed two years of club work with blue ribbons at the County Fair and red ribbons at the State Fair. Leaders are Carol Abbott and Ruth Boardman. The club and Iron County Demonstrations exhibit also went to the State Fair with Anna Talbot and Jennie Denton earning blue ribbons for their demonstration.

Mr and Mrs F W Pendleton of Parowan depart for Los Angeles to labor as missionaries in the California mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Henry Matheson Dies In McGill Nevada
Henry Matheson 67 died Monday evening in a McGill Nevada hospital after a serious illness while visiting Parowan. Funeral services are set for Friday at 2 p.m. in McGill with Parowan siblings attending. Born March 1 1880 in Dundee Scotland he came to the United States in 1881 and lived in Nevada 37 years working as a pipe fitter then at the McGill smelter. He married Ethel Smith June 14 1910 in Lund Nevada and is survived by his widow and children Merl Matheson California Max Matheson New Jersey Mrs Margaret Fisher Salt Lake City Ronald Matheson intern.

Funeral of Salina Rancher Rulon Fairbourn Attended by Local Figures
Albert E. Adams and his sister Angna Adams attended in Salina last Sunday for the funeral of Rulon Fairbourn, a prominent rancher and stake presidency member. He died after a summer illness from Addison's disease. He leaves a widow and four children. Alberta Seorup Fairbourn, known locally as Alberta Scorup, is his wife’s family connection.
