Burglars Loot Toggery Here Captured in Utah Links

Burglaries at the Marsden Toggery yielded between three and four thousand dollars in stock and cash. Suspects Harold Grover Billie Randall and Jimmie Lawrence Cedar City residents were arrested after a Kanosh robbery link was uncovered. Evidence tied Grover to the Kanosh case and Utah detectives tracked the trio to Murray.

Stake Conference Set In Para Wan Next Weekend

Farewan Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will hold its last quarterly conference of the year in Para Wan on Saturday and Sunday, November 29 and 30. A special session due to Judge Cox illness was postponed. Judge George II Worthen of Pearth District opened the term on the 17th to proceed legally and extend until Cox arrives. The Doolittle Gas and Oil Co. represented by Shay and Shay obtained a default judgment against M. E. Harrison for 494.19 plus 20.20 costs.

Damage suit filed against Pickwick Stage Lines Inc

H M Ash of Beaver filed in district court a damage suit for 1677.50 naming Pickwick Stage Lines as defendant. He alleges his car was struck by a Pickwick bus near the Walker farm beyond Summit on about June 10 injuring it 71.35 and that repairs deprived him of use for 323.05. He claims transportation cost 6.60 and lost wages for three weeks 76.59 plus general damages 1600. Cedar people report Parowan’s Chautauqua is very good.

Chautauqua Brings Fine Entertainments To Four Utah Towns

This season's inter community Chautauqua travels through Parowan Cedar Beaver and St George. Cedar opened with the drama Wedding Bells to large attentive audience and fine instrumental trio Roy Halverson Melvin Done Virginia B Larson. Beaver presented Crocodile Island a light opera with twenty five person chorus and polished costuming. Tonight Joe's Boys from St George with conductor Joseph McAlister perform and Saturday a local comedy by Will L Adams invites all, with a Monday encore for children. Mexicans Marry Here in Local Ceremony

A marriage license issued by the Clerk's office in Milford lists Juan Sanchas and Mrs. Francisco Gallo of Idaho Falls Idaho as a couple married this morning by Bishop H L Adams before their departure. The license notes the groom as a native of Mexico and the bride’s father from Mexico with her mother of Irish descent.

Ward conferences will be held in Parowan wards this Sunday Nov. 23. Bishop Mitchell announced that the stake presidency and High Council members will attend the event.

City Faces Emergency Power Costs and Proposals

City records show emergency power payments to Dixie Power Co totaling 86.25 so far this year with estimates the annual cost near 1006. The company seeks 150 monthly in future or 1060 if kept idle. Officials note little reason to expect higher next year as the plant was idle during pipe work.

Mr and Mrs Wm W Pendleton of this city celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary on Sunday last Nov 16 at their farm home. They were married in the St George temple on Nov 16 1950. The Pendletons have reared a large family now grown and the community honors them with congratulations and best wishes for more anniversaries.

Nightwatchman Hired by Local Businesses

After a major burglary, local business houses hire a nightwatchman. Lyman F P Clark is named deputy sheriff and assigned the role. The permanence of the arrangement is unclear but city cooperation will be sought when the council meets.

Thoroughbred Sire Brought In To Improve Local Night Horses

A new eight-year-old thoroughbred, Point Blank by home, arrived at Parowan from Kentucky under the Federal Remount service. Dr. Henry’s unit previously relocated to Circleville, with Fr. L. Fenton taking charge of the horse for use in improving local horses.

Sheepmen Offered $1 Advance On Next Clip

Local sheepmen are offered $1.60 a fleece under a pre shearing contract for next spring wool. The offer comes from the Utah Wool Marketing Association and is represented locally by Th W Middleton of Cedar City. Details of the contract were not available.

District Court Session Opens With Dalley v Mid-West Dairy

The November term of the District Court convened this morning with Judge Cox presiding. The first case is Rulon Dalley versus Mid-West Dairy Co. Inc. for 70 000 dollars for injuries from a collision with a company truck on a highway near Kanarra on July 4. Jury members include Clarence Pendleton Alfred Force John H Williams Golden Faramore James Fisher Horace Edwards Frank Kelsey Freeman Hyatt. Two criminal cases against T D Harrison and Q Schiettz are set for ten o clock Monday morning though trials may be postponed.

Death Comes to Cedar City Man

Joseph Bauer aged 64, longtime Cedar City resident, died the first of the week from pneumonia contracted ten days earlier. He was known in Parowan and Cedar City through his marriage to Alles Leah Paramore. He was a hardworking, honest man and is survived by nine children and an adopted son. his wife preceded him in death.
