Court Convenes and Adjourns in Brief November Term

The District Court met for the November term with Judge T. H. Burton. Most cases were dismissed or continued, with a few defaults and motions. A bench warrant was issued for fugitive Loraine Pendleton. Interlocutory divorces granted to Alice Bardwell and Dora Dean Lyman Clark. Clark includes restoration of surname, custody of a minor, and $15 monthly support.

Elders Quorums Hold Reunion Social at Opera House

The Elders of Parowan first and sixth Quorums gathered for a Monday night social at the Opera house with about 40 couples and guests including ward bishops. The program featured teachings by Louise Cruikshank and Ralph Jensen, a quartet including Rex Ward and Victor Watkins, brief talks by John Page and Rex Ward, games, refreshments, and dancing.

Parowan Bakery to Move Into New Quarters

Parowan Bakery owned by Emil A Malmberg and partner will relocate within the week from the Southern Ulap Party Co fold Equitable building to the Gurr building on Malin Street adjoining Parowan Auto. The new site will feature a groceries and cafe line aimed at serving locals and tourists with an enhanced shop and cafe operation.

Community school grounds beautification to begin next week

A committee-approved plan launches a district wide effort to improve school grounds with concrete walks and planting. Parowan will lead, hauling cement from the railroad while other communities including Paragonah Cedar City and Kanarra participate. Committees for north south blocks and city patrons were named and will report at the Relief Stall Sunday at 3 30 p m.

Former Parowan Woman Luella Beutler Dies Suddenly

Word reached Friday of the sudden death of Luella Mickelson Beutler 36 at Midway Utah from heart trouble. Born and raised in Parowan she taught school and worked in church auxiliary groups. Survived by husband Benn E Beutler two brothers three sisters and several stepchildren. Burial in Parowan with services in the Tabernacle featuring local speakers and musical tributes.

William Edwards Buried in Paragonah Soon

Funeral services for William Edwards were held Sunday in Paragonah. The Welsh-born veteran and early settler helped found Paragonah and served on the town's first board of trustees and as ward chair. Survived by wife 4nn Edwards, six sons, one daughter, 24 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren, with speakers and music at the service.

Parowan High School Parents Day a Great Success

National Education Week activity at Parowan High School drew parents to a full day of classes, meals, and performances. Students attended all sessions while a late afternoon program featured songs, readings, debate, and a play. The day concluded with a Parent Teachers Association reorganization and a solo encore by Mr. Jensen.
