Attempted Robbery Ends in Killing in Paragonah

Jerry Wilson, 23, of Arkansas, and three companions attempted to steal gasoline at Milt Dalley’s Service Station in Paragonah. After a chase through Cedar City and St. George, Wilson was fatally shot by a sheriff’s posse in Snow Canyon. The two girls and another man were captured. one girl and the man escaped after a rock strike, then recaptured.

Radio Party at WM. Marsden Home Hosts Enjoyment

Mrs Emma Clark Mrs Augusta Adams and Mrs Wm Marsden led a Friday night radio party at the Marsden home. Guests heard speeches from presidential candidates portions sang songs and participated in games. Landslide Victory Secures Hoover Curtis in Nation

In a landslide, Hoover and Curtis win the presidency with about 444 electoral votes while Smith and Robinson gain eight states. Utah yields King for Senate and Dern for Governor with large margins, shaping a Republican-dominant state ticket despite strong Democratic showings in certain races. Don Colton leads Patterson for Congress district one, and Leatherwood defeats Paul for district two. Local Republicans prevail across county races amid scratching for Democrats.

Hope Chest Tickets at Armistice Night Dance

Announcement by the Service Star Legion states the Hope chest will be given away at the Armistice night dance. Ticket holders must be present to win, as no unpresented ticket will be honored. The chest, a red cedar piece filled with linen, is valued over $106. Tickets are priced per couple and 26 cents for extra ladies.

Parowan plans week of public ground improvements

Parowan residents vote to beautify the church block next week after Armistice Day celebrations. The project includes landscaping, tree removal, ground leveling, and a water sprinkler system with concrete walls under way. The church bears 50 percent of costs. the rest is donated work. Children's Armistice Day Dance Plans in Community Hall

A community Armistice Day celebration includes a 2:30 to 6 p m children's dance in the new recreation hall with tickets at 1k, ten cents of which buys a tag to fund a memorial. Invitations went to nearby towns and civic groups for the tenth anniversary observance featuring a parade at 9 a m, unveiling of the memorial, barbecue, sports, and an evening dance.

Education Week program to be given on Sunday

Special to the Times Education week is observed nationwide with emphasis on parenthood education. The program, under the Parent Teachers group and high school faculty, will be Sunday at 2 o clock in West Ward chapel Parowan. Principal Hatch Guartette and others will speak with musical numbers and community singing.

Dance at Paragonah Saturday Night by American Legion

An American Legion dance will be held at Paragonah on Saturday night hosted by the Legion boys and local residents inviting Parowan and neighboring communities. It is their regular arsilst the day dance moved to Saturday to avoid Parowan’s Monday celebration. Tickets for the game are available. Shee pmen have water and grazing spots for rent or sale in Moertin Nadas Utah.
