Scores Visit High School During Open House

Officials unveiled Parowan High School’s expanded 207000 dollar modernization featuring a vaulted gym with one of the West’s largest courts new folding bleachers and flexible partitions plus upgraded lighting plumbing and classrooms. The seventh and eighth grades moved to new lower and second floor areas while the fireproof stairs improve safety.

Open House Honors Mother of Local Lady in Cedar City

Mrs Charlotte Gower Rosenberg, 88, celebrated at a Cedar City home on 800 West Street with local family in attendance. Hosts included Mrs A Dobrusky of Cedar City and many relatives from Cedar City Parowan and California. Rosenberg, widow since 1914, is remembered as a longtime Cedar City resident with seven sons and daughters, 23 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren.

Parish Relief Society Bazaar And Ward Meetings

Parowan Third Ward Relief Society hosts a Tuesday bazaar from 2 to 4 pm in the Relief Society rooms of the Chapel with many gifts for Christmas and other occasions. Second Ward calls an all day meeting Tuesday encouraging as many ladies as possible to attend. Third Ward schedules a Ward Conference for Sunday at 2 pm with Singing Mothers providing special music. First Ward announces an all day meeting Monday with Christmas gift suggestions and a demonstration by Mrs. Zilpha Dalton. all ladies invited to share ideas.

Elizabeth Camp DUP Set Meeting This Thursday

The regular monthly meeting of the Elizabeth Camp Daughters of Utah Pioneers will be held Thursday at 2 pm in the basement of the Old Rock Church relic hall. Mrs Luella R. Adams will present the lesson titled Our Living Pioneers. All ladies are urged to attend.

Lyle Dalton Attends BYU Journalism Conference

Lyle Dalton, Parowana high school paper reporter and Times sports writer, attended the annual journalism conference at BYU on October 32. Delegates from over 80 high schools and junior colleges in the Intermountain States participated in 16 workshops on editing and advertising for student media. William B. Smart of the Deseret News gave the keynote on safeguarding free press, joined by 14 professionals in editors, photographers, printers, and advertisers.

Stringfellow to Speak in Parowan Dinner

Rep Douglas R Stringfellow Utah First District will guest speaker at a Parowan Chamber of Commerce dinner Thursday November 19. He will be in Leon County that day and Parowan evening appearance is planned with meal served by a ward relief society in the First Ward banquet hall. Further details to be announced next week.

High School Cast To Present Famous Play Pride and Prejudice

Parowar Heh School drama department announces its season opening with Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Beaver Beats Parowan 53 6 to End Rams Season

Beaver defeated Parowan 53 6 on Beaver field to close the Rams football season. Marshall led the Beavers with a potent offensive attack, while Parowan’s lone score came on a Dave Orton line plunge. The win sets up a state semi final against the Utah winner of Tooele and Murray, with the state final slated for November 20 at the University of Utah stadium. Also announced is an inter class basketball tournament next week with two games daily at 4 and 5 in the new gym. volunteers are sought for officiating and spectators may attend free.

Stake Quarterly Conference Next Week Ends With Special Meeting

Clifford Eo Young of the LDS Church will represent the General Church authorities at the Parowan Stake Quarterly Conference on November 14 and 15. A special Saturday meeting at 7 30 p m is announced for Elders and partners, Priesthood members and their wives, single men, and Stake leaders, with sessions in the First Second Ward Recreation hall and a social in the Relief Society rooms. General sessions occur at 1 d am and 2 pm Sunday. Mutual time will be announced later.

Death of Henderson deer hunter Richard Lamoreaux

Richard Lamoreaux, 24, of Henderson Nevaia was accidentally shot in the chest while hunting near St George with two companions. He died shortly after. Funeral services were held at St George Third Ward Chapel on Saturday. Relatives from Provo and nearby areas attended. Lamoreaux was born October 5 1929 in Provo, a son of Leland and Thelma Lamoreaux and was a BYU student and LDS Church member.
