Third Ward Relief Schedules Special Program

The Parowan Third Ward Relief meet has scheduled a special Sunday evening program November 4. The program will last one hour. Short talks will be given by Mrs. Mae Bentley and Mrs Rose Elise Gurr. Musical numbers will be provided by the Singing Mothers group. A trio by Mrs. Anne Joy Jones will close as a special feature. All families in the ward are urged to attend.

Snow to Address Students and Faculty at CSU

Glen E. Snow, NEA assistant secretary for lay relations, will speak to students and faculty at a special assembly on Wednesday November 14 as part of Education Week at College of Southern Utah. The program is sponsored by the Utah education department and aided by Utah State Agricultural College and Snow College. Snow, former Dixie College president, has led multiple state and national education groups and served as NEA president in 1947-48.

Social Security Extends Disabled Child Benefits Past 18

Under the 1956 amendments the Social Security Act enables disabled children to continue receiving benefits after turning 18. Kesler T. Powell notes the change, effective January 1, 1957, allowing payments to qualified children and in some cases to the child's mother, provided disability occurred before 18 and medical proof is supplied.

Special Concert Slated At CSU on November 5

A CSU College of Southern Utah concert features Irving Wassermann and Andrew Galos. Galos, first violin under Toscanini, played with NBC Symphony and New York Philharmonic. Wassermann, renowned pianist, has appeared with the Utah Symphony. The open free concert starts 8:15 p.m. at the CSU auditorium.

October Storms Deliver Half Inch Moisture

In Southern Utah two October storms brought about 0.50 inches of moisture after a severe dry spell. Weather observer Clayton Rasmussen reports 0.15 inches in the Monday storm and 0.35 inches from the prior week, totaling 0.50 inches for October, a welcome relief to stockmen and farmers.

CSU Sets Showing for New Sheep Breed Nov 12

A field day at College of Southern Utah on November 12 will showcase a Rambouillet Tarzhee cross alongside Rambouillet Suffolk and Hampshire breeds. The event, organized by CSU and USAC Experiment Station, features feeding slaughter trials and data on five lamb types, with researchers including Darrell Mathews and James Bennett presenting. The program begins at 1:00 p.m. at the CSU Valley farm.

Fannie A Stubbs Dies in Cowley Wyoming Death comes Tuesday after long illness in Lowell hospital

Word of the death of Mrs. Fannie Ashdown Stubbs of Cowley Wyoming was received by relatives here Tuesday. She died Tuesday morning in a Lowell Wyoming hospital after a lingering illness. Born and raised in Cedar City, she married Edgar M. Stubbs of Parowan. The family lived in Cedar City before moving to Cowley several years ago. Mr. Stubbs died about five months ago. Surviving are four sons and daughters, Ross A. Stubbs, Keith Stubbs, Mrs. Ruth Welch of Cowley, Mrs. Elma Mickelson of Lovell, Wyoming, and 21 grandchildren.

Roy A. Rowley fireman apprentice USN son of Mr and Mrs Milo F Rowley Parowan is due back at Long Beach California November 4 with Destroyer Division 192 from the Far East after a five month tour with the Formosa Patrol. Pheasant Season Opens in Utah November 10

Utah announces the pheasant and upland game season will start at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday November 10 with concurrent hunts for quail hungarian partridge and chukar in numerous counties.
