Olile Norris of Lund, a land garage man and suspected bootlegger, was arrested last night with about a gallon of moonshine seized during a raid. The sheriff’s office provided the only details, noting Norris will be arraigned this afternoon.
Seventeen year old LeGrand Robb son of Thomas W Robb of Paragonah was taken to Cedar City hospital with a gunshot wound in his leg. It occurred while at a camp with cattle in the hills where he was handling a six shooter. the bullet pierced the flesh of his thigh and may have avoided bone injury.
City Justice George D Morris ruled the dog known as Bog That Bites a public nuisance after witnesses testified it bit several people. Mark Jackson, charged with keeping the nuisance, paid a ten dollar fine to cover costs and promised to muzzle the Airedale in town.
The West Ward Relief Society held a Tuesday gathering with good attendance. Miss Fae Decker presented a Social Service lesson on childhood physical problems after winter study at the B A C. Mrs Leona Lyman and Mrs Alice Lyman sang a duet. four Stake officers attended. Next Tuesday’s Theology lesson and testimony meeting are planned.
Members of the O. E. Club enjoyed a five mile outing in the canyon last Friday. They traveled by team and wagon, had a plentiful lunch with watercress from a spring, then returned to main canyon and visited Brubu's place for supper.
Wool sales are sporadic with most growers holding the bulk of their clip. James C. Robinson sold yesterday to LG Harris, price around 29 to 32 cents. Nellie M. Clark sold for 31 cents earlier. Paramore and N. L. Adams also reported at 29 cents. Cedar City and Panguitch show similar slow activity, while Leaver reportedly sold a large amount at 32 cents.
Jimmie spotted flames near John T. Mitchell’s barn and, with neighbors, quickly doused a fire that could have roared through multiple properties including the Richards and Green holdings, risking a wide neighborhood blaze under strong wind.
The Elite Cafe installed a Frigidaire ice cream cabinet with eight compartments for eight varieties and improved sanitary preservation. It runs on electricity, removing the need for ice in packing the cream, and may later feature a fountain.
Wintering crews from Taleighs construction outfit, who finished a road contract last winter, left Sunday morning for Cove Fort. Local youths including Roswell Clark, Daiu Matheson, Marion Whitney, Claude Matheson, Albert Matheson, Jess Mickleson and Clair Smith joined to work for Mr. Raleigh. Mr. Wm. J. Gurr and one of his men accompanied the move and will return in a few days.
Memorial Day will be observed on Monday May 31 in beautifying the city cemetery. The MIA sponsors the event with mayoral support. Men and boys work in the morning, a brief noon program follows, lunch by the ladies, then a big dance at the opera house in the evening.
Mayor Thomas D Adams of Parowan Utah proclaims May thirty first a community day for cemetery beautification and Memorial Day observance. Citizens urged to assemble at the cemetery in the morning and to keep businesses closed during the morning hours.
The notice urges early planning for a Fourth of July celebration and recommends that the master receive attention from city officials at their first meeting to organize committees and action.
The Daughters of Pioneers invite members to a June 2 meeting at Purgaan camp featuring modern dance acts, burlesque routines, readings, singing, violin pieces, and minuet dancing with a behind the screen segment. Refreshments at 15 cents. An evening dance at the opera house will offer two orchestras for modern and old time dances, inviting wide participation. Mr. R L Fenton travels to Salt Lake City for his father’s serious operation.
Baral Whitney returns home after a weeks visit in Salt Lake City with her daughter Mrs J Banks. Mrs Banks was ill during the trip but improved afterward. Mr Jos R Bentley drove to Bella on Thursday for special equipment for his car.
Messrs. M. L. Guyman and Jewet Wilcock returned from Cannonville where they have been shearing sheep for several days after Peter II Gurr had been incapacitated for three or four weeks due to sinus trouble.
Mr and Mrs J Harold Mitchell returned from Safford Arizona to spend the summer vacation Harold plans six weeks at Utah State University summer school in Logan Utah and will be in Utah during the break
Editor A II Tholla of the Iron County Record was in town visiting friends and conducting business late last week.
Misa LaPrele Smith, former stenographer for Judge Kihox, sought more thrill than the Beaver Clerk’s office could offer and married Charles Wilden, both of Beaver, by Bishop Marsden. The same week Cedar City residents Joseph Hunter Nelson and Maurine Cox received a license.
Mr. Warren Pendleton and Mrs. Warren Pendleton are home following a winter in Geaver where Mr. Pendleton enjoyed a successful year in the school room.
Mrs Marlaa A Gudmansen returns home from Cedar City to attend the Relief Society Conference on Sunday, joining local members for the event.
Mrs Maud M Dalton, after over a year with Gergstrom Co, moved home last week and joined Marsden's store for ladies. Her daughter Myra and son William, previously at B A C, also returned home with her.
The Misses Clara Lorna and EHleer Capril are at home for the winter in St George. Merrill Wor U and Byron Thornton and John T Mickleson depart today for the North to shear sheep.
Meesrs. Owen and Lorenzo Matheson and Mrs Dau Be Matheson were in town from Midvalley on business yesterday.
Mrs Anna H Mitchell spent commencement week in Cedar City with her daughter Fluldal and helped her move home the last of the week.
Misa Fae Decker and Miss Arvilla Day are back home after a winter in Cedar City spent attending the LDAC event. The two young women traveled south for the winter program and returned with stories of the organization’s activities.
Will Bradshaw was rushed to the hospital late last week for surgery on an abscess behind his ear. His temperature reached 104 degrees and he was semi conscious when the doctor arrived. Dr. Green said there was little hope, but after the operation he is reportedly improving.

Mrs Belle Mitchell Taggart arrives home for a few weeks visit with her people after traveling from Doul der Colorado.
The Parcells family motored to Cedar City on Sunday morning to attend Sunday School in the new Presbyterian chapel.
Dr Smith came home yesterday after two to three weeks in Hurricane performing dental care. He plans to stay a few days then travel to Heaver for further duties.

Halterman suffered serious injuries Monday when his jumper caught in the governor and dragged him toward a flywheel during oiling of a gasoline engine. He lost two teeth and sustained lacerations, bruises, and a broken pose, then was taken to Cedar City hospital for treatment.
June plans list several local youths heading to two camps this summer. Clayton Dalton Alden Burt Brandt Dalton Lollia Orton and possibly Vivian Parker will attend the Wyoming camp, while Lewis Adams goes to Fort Douglas. Two or three Paragenah boys may go, with possible others from Fara wan.
Invitations were sent to Matheson Clan members to attend a Sunday ceremony at four o'clock at the cemetery to dedicate a monument in memory of their progenitor Daniel Matheson.

Mrs George Ence traveled from Delta to consult Dr Green and visit relatives in town for a few days. When she returns her mother Mrs Mary Jensen will accompany her for an indefinite visit in Delta.
Mrs Ellen Thornton left last week to visit her children in the northern part of the state. Miss Catherine Richards, who aided the County Treasurer here, departed earlier this week for Salt Lake City.
Cedar City and Zion National Park will host the Utah Chapter of the International Association of Identification on June 4 and 5. The program features prominent officials from Salt Lake City including Mayor Nelson and Commissioner T N Burton, plus speakers from state and national agencies. The Salt Lake Police Band will perform with solo numbers by W H Manning and J C Wright. The public is invited to attend and citizens are urged to be present to meet peace officers and learn about their challenges. Further program details will be published next week due to space limits.
Last Sunday Goth Parowan Wards held a Relief Society Conference with Bishop Marsden presiding. Melinda Adams reported on yearly work, followed by songs, brief speeches from Ward and Stake members, a solo with accompaniment, and a life of John the Baptist lesson. Benediction by Joseph Stevens closed the service.
Mr James Jones of St George was in town last week while returning from Panguleh where his wife’s family were visited.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. D. Adams and daughter Miss Lucille spent Friday in Cedar City for the alumni banquet and ball, enjoying the festive gathering with former classmates and friends.
Messrs John T. Mickleson W E Thornton Merrill Thornton and Wells Clark were in town the first of the week after being away for home time shearing sheep.
Bayles conducts trials beyond wheat oats and alfalfa planting Navy and Utah Pink-eye beans on about two acres, near an acre of onions and some melons. He grew fine tomatoes and mellons last year though beans and onions are new to him this season.
