Breaks Road Construction Near Mammoth Cedar Breaks

A crew works on Parowan canyon road toward Mammoth country. After committee decision, work rotated to Wilcox canyon area and Dry canyon approach. Road will hug creek sides near narrows for over a mile, avoiding Bull Flat hill. Fundraising committee reports strong responses and many workers ready this week. A early July start to the Breaks road appears likely.

Parowan Home Bureau Sees Growth Plans for Summer Projects

Parowan Home Bureau reports 25 paid members with more expected. Mrs. S A Halterman is the new Second Treasurer. Summer plans include dress forms under Maude M Dalton, child nutrition led by L J Adams starting around June 6, sewing led by Belle Empey, and Home Nursing and Millinery projects likely in August and September depending on specialist support.

Matheson Makes Good Again at University of Utah

Scott Matheson, a Utah sophomore, won the Sons of the American Revolution gold medal for the best patriotic address in a university contest. His topic was The Most Tragic Figure in History, discussing Benedict Arnold and his final plea to die in an American uniform. Judges were Dr. E. S. Wright C. A. Bord and G. L. Hutchins.

M I A Pageant Delights Audience With Seasonal Scenes

The M I A Pageant last Friday night drew praise for its witty, well acted Autumn and Winter tableaux. A Monday afternoon shower for Miss Thoebe Ward, hosted by friends at Miss Nellie Hyatt's home, featured light refreshments and a kitchenette set as a wedding gift.

Buckhorn notes report William J. Keith and family moved to Provo for a new home while Aaron Edwards and family also left for Provo. Visitors Bro. Thos. T. New School Site Chosen After Drainage and Proximity Review

A committee from state and county health boards and the school board selected the Woods lot for the new school after rejecting the public square site due to poor drainage and closeness to buildings. Excavation is underway and the building will be a valued town addition.

Van Decker Married in Salt Lake City Ceremony

Ivan Decker of Parowan son of George W. Decker wed Venice Hopkins of Glendale in Salt Lake last week. Decker is a University of Utah senior active in athletics including track and football. He led the baseball division of the Men's League this spring, staging a highly praised series.

Last Saturday at noon Meade Warren Junior, riding a horse from field to barn, fell at a partly lowered yard gate. He remains unconscious with brain concussion, shoulder dislocations, leg bruises, and thumb injury. no skull fracture evident, organs functioning, time will tell, but hopes exist for recovery.
