Citizens' Military Training Camp at Fort Douglas Utah

The War Department designated Fort Douglas as a Citizens' Military Training Camp location for Utah Idaho Nevada and Wyoming men aged 17 to 29. The one month program runs July 5 to August 3 to train healthy Americans and foster democratic civic values. Apply through 1st Lt Thomas B Smothers Jr or the camp sergeant without delay. Also future farmers offers garden plants including tomatoes cabbage cauliflower and peppers via hot bed orders.

Civic clubs to meet in Milford this March weekend

The Associated Civic Clubs of Southern Utah plan a Milford gathering on March 23 and 24. Sessions run 3 p.m. Saturday and 9:60 a.m. Sunday. A bridge tea for ladies is scheduled Saturday afternoon and a Union Pacific dining room banquet at 7 p.m. will be followed by a dance. Hotel reservations are to be made through George Jefferson.

Red Cross to Offer Free First Aid Course

Mr. Taylor Milley announces a 15 lesson first aid course by the Red Cross starting next Monday night March 18 at 8 in the courthouse. F J Burton leads the instruction, free to all including relief recipients. books may be bought for 60 cents from Mr. Miller. The initial meeting will decide weekly lesson frequency.

Three civil actions filed this week in the county district court include Wr. Duffie as receiver for Richfield 617 Co against I E Riddle and Clarence B E Miler on a note for 322 85 with 75 attorney fees. Southern Utah Power Co against J M Ward on an open account for 303 with interest and costs. Minutes show eleven county water conservation projects listed with profiles and estimates for potential funding. Relief Society Observes Annual Day Program

Relief Society of the L D S church and Stake and Ward officers are honored as two Parowan Wards host a Sunday 2 p m program at East Ward chapel with talks and music. Monday at 8 p m features two one act plays led by Mrs Burgle H Adams and Mrs Louise C Adams, plus Parowan High school music and Perry orchestra dancing. Budget tickets available at the door.

Legion Auxiliary Presents New Books to Public Library

As its community welfare project for the year ending March 17, the local Legion Auxiliary placed 340 dollars worth of children’s books on library shelves. Six dollars came from the Junior Literary Club. the rest was raised by the Auxiliary. The books carry inscriptions noting the presentation date March 17, 1935. Previous similar gifts show heavy use, and Auxiliary members hope children will handle the new volumes with care so more youngsters can enjoy them.

Skiers Report Good Snow Depth at Bowery

Thirty four inches of snow on the level and drifts top Tar Kiln hill Bowery valley. A ski party including Saundera Clark Sloward Ward Lynn Tinkerman Mortis Puémussen or Sherwin Henson traveled to Five-rmile area then walked back. Reports note near three feet of snow, deeper than last year.

Commissioners Name New Hospital Committee for County

An executive committee to manage the county hospital was named by the Board of County Commissioners at their March meeting. The panel includes M. J. Macfarlane, Fr. Leigh, and Marie Stevens. They will pass on hospital bills and report monthly on operating expenses and patient numbers. The panel replaces the former hospital board. The physician will be paid 25 dollars a month plus mileage.
