Civil War Veteran Brown Dies While Visiting California
G. Brown an 83 year old Civil War veteran and former resident of the local community died at his son Johns home in Alhambra California. He had traveled from the community about three weeks earlier to visit family. His health declined after heat and travel intensified his weak stomach and a heart attack ended his life early today. Surviving children include Alice and Harry Brown, Maude D. Paestla, Georgia E. Mitchell, Olive Sawtell, and John S. Crown, with numerous grandchildren. He was born in 1842 in Timot Ontario? Kentucky and served in the Union army for about a year. He previously lived in Tinon and Kansas before moving here in 1914, working as a farmer merchant and building contractor and as a Republican. His death follows the passing of his wife in 1950. The body will be interred in San Fabric cemetery beside his wife, with plans for services in the near future.
