State To Fence Property At Yankee Reservoir
Budd Phelps of the State Fish and Game Commission visited Yankee Reservoir to oversee a plan to fence 160 acres around the lake this summer. The commission aims to reduce cattle and livestock use, add sanitary facilities, and study a possible pure site purchase in Parowan Main Canyon for a deer range.

New Businesses Open Doors In Parowan
Two new businesses began operation in Parowan during the week. The Parowan Cafe next to Buy-Rite Grocery held an open house Tuesday and opened officially Wednesday afternoon, with hours from 1 pm to 1 am. New owners are C C Tall and James Radford. The Dairy Freeze near Lower Main opened Monday, operated by Kent Heap of Cedar City. A truck strike delayed equipment delivery, and the Utah Gas station was leased to Scott G L Orton on Tuesday, taking over from Bob Tibbetts, who had run it for the past year.

Paragonah Plans Fourth Celebration for Independence Day
Paragonah outlines a July Fourth program led by Mr and Mrs Chester Robinson. The day includes a big gun salute, a children’s mini parade at 9 30, a 10 a m meeting with races and sports, chuck wagon dinner on the church lawn, booths and entertainment, a stake dance in Parowan, and aims to boost recreation and the Ward Building Fund. With five months of drought and strong winds, low foothill and desert areas are extremely dry, risking large fires threatening forage and watersheds. Plea to Slow Down and Live Not Being Heeded
