The Paragonal committee selected Lois McBride to lead Goddess and Beth Edwards for Utah. Plans call for a program and sports events to be published next week. Local notices report tributes for Wallace Williams and a June 18 temple wedding of Herbert Topham and Golda McBride.
A. J. Ashman superintendent of Sevier county schools will speak at the Utah-Idaho Lions convention in Rienfield June 24. He will discuss a safety program for Utah schools during Tuesday morning sessions at 10 o clock in the Lyric Theatre. Gilbert L. Stanton and B. A. Hart will present reports while Harrison R Merrill of Brigham Young University will discuss Mexico the Land of Flame and Governor Thornton will preside at the afternoon session.
David Webster Ward known as Dub Ward a Rush Lake rancher and livestock man died Tuesday after a weeklong illness from pneumonia and Brights disease He was 66 Born November 2 1868 in this area his funeral was held Thursday in the Westward chapel with Bishop N L Adams and several speakers paying tribute to his hospitality honesty and industry Survivors include his sister Matilda Bettridge and two half sisters Eleanor Ogden and May Ward Hunt plus a host of nephews nieces and friends from the community.

Elmer L. Elesk known as Elmer Hy att married June 1 in Medford Falls Oregon. Miss Thelmal Quibell wed Elmer I Bleak June 1 in a home ceremony at the Quibell residence 2222 Garden St. The couple will reside at 320 Wendling Street with Elmer paying a home in Oregon City.
Miss Georgia Jensen enjoys a two week vacation from the FERA office in Cedar City. She stays home with her parents rather than traveling, using the break to rest locally.
Miss Luella Hyatt and a Salt Lake City department superintendent visited her relatives here last Saturday for a weekend stay. They arrived with Mrs Albena T. Gurr and Mrs Nellie H. Bentley after attending a Primary convention in Salt Lake City.
Airs Dela Connell Luke and her mother Mrs. Sarah Connell arrive with relatives and friends for a short stay. It is eight years since Mrs Luke last came home.
Mr and Mrs Gardella Orton of Toufler City are spending their vacation with relatives in this county. They were in town Monday but returned to Cedar City where they had left one of their children.
A community circus next Thursday in the school gym plans to raise funds and clear indebtedness to the Timpanogos council so local boys can attend the International Scout Jamboree in Washington DC. Mayor, bishops, and other leaders form the organizing committee with three members guiding the event.

John Ji Fendleton a industrial arts teacher at Parowan High School attends a two week course at Utah State Agricultural College on Methods of Teaching Industrial Arts. The program is led by Dean M Schweickard assistant superintendent of schools at Minneapolis Minnesota.
Former city librarian Mrs. Elizabeth Heap came back home after a visit to Idaho that began at the start of the year.
Ray D. Garner departed Sunday for Logan to attend classes at the U. S. A. G C for a couple of weeks.
Mrs Ora Benson Frazer arrives with her party from California to visit friends and relatives, traveling with the Edgar Benson family to enjoy local sights and hospitality.
Mrs Mary O Mitchell and her grandson Darrell have returned from a California visit that lasted three to four weeks.
Superintendent N J Barlow travels Saturday to Southern California for a six week school term. Director G berhanstey of the F A C is also in California for the same purpose.
Miss Mary Orton travels to the University of Southern California for summer school. She is accompanied by Miss Margaret Williams Miss Daniels of Logan and Superintendent Parlow who are also attending the program.
The western novelist Alan LeMay returns with Winter Range a gun blazing tale of suspense. LeMay known for Painted Ponies and Gunsight Trail pens a virile mystery that reads like a detective story and will appear serially with the first installment on page six.
The Board of Education approved a budget for the coming school year at its meeting on the 10th with no public protests. A county nurse funding was redirected to instruction. Insurance was set with Gregen Mutual, while commissions go to Maeser Dalley and John W. Denney. The Wayne E. Mayhew Co. will audit with local help. Supt N J Barlow will serve two more years and attend Salt Lake City conference and a six week summer session. A list of new teachers for the coming year was approved.
Thomas A. Topham of Paragonah reports a letter from Acting Chief of Field Operations Arch TD Ryan urging all prospective permittees in the winter grazing district to file permit applications immediately. Topham says advisory board members will provide further information or permit blanks from the County Agent's office.
A note to highway patrolman L. J. Adams from a “Just a Local Observer” urges an inquiry into Ernest Orton’s missing plates. Adams notes Orton applied for a license and sent payment weeks ago, leaving the cause of the delay unclear.
Claudia Joseph and Pearl Bentley boarded a bus Wednesday at noon for a vacation trip to the San Diego fair and other Southern California points of interest.

West Ward scouts enjoy a summer outing at Duck Creek this week with groups from Southern Uriah and Southwestern Nevada. East Ward scouts unable to attend join an event at Yankee Reservoir nearby.
The Girls of Four Clovers 4 H club met on Wednesday June 19 at Miss Claudia Pendleton's. Pendleton demonstrated dry cleaning and the group spent the rest sewing. Members work on personal sewing projects with a special outline. Next meeting set for June 6 at Miss Thora Lowe's. Virginia Mortensen, reporter.

Leaders Claud Pendleton and Darbarg Adams will guide the group while a club name is yet to be chosen.
