County Commissioners acted on routine business at the regular meeting though some items were delayed to the next session due to Commissioner Levy's absence. They discussed a Cedar City Chamber of Commerce fair, resignation of relief committee head, weed eradication cooperation, hospital expenditures and renovations, and appraisal and sale of Leigh property.
A caravan of eighteen new Ford cars and trucks arrived yesterday from Chicago for Petty Motor Company Cedar City distributor of Ford products. Seven trucks haul passenger cars or pickups with vivid colors and attracted attention across the country. The trip tested rail freight savings and offered local boys a World Fair view. Wilson N Lunt led, assisted by Sherwin Hradshaw Reed Petty Lyle Pringhurst Elbert Heaton Burt Carpenter and W Warner Mitchell as drivers. Mrs Lunt accompanied her husband as the group returned from Chicago by train while six drove back in a used 1937 Ford.
Dr Arnold L Graff Jamey Prestwich and Lauron Williams of Cedar City Utah found guilty by a jury on June 10 of a conspiracy to defraud the government over 11 000 acres of land in Colorado Leonard Graff of Kanarra was freed by directed verdict The trio received prison terms and hefty fines while Graff appealed his conviction and faces a bail arrangement in Cedar City pending the appeal hearing. supplementary notes from Salt Lake Tribune report leniency may be sought for the Cedar City defendants.
Parowan High School band under Walter Peterson supplied music for two Cedar City events on Wednesday including a Flag Day program and the corner stone ceremony for the new federal building. The corner stone, laid by Mavor Lunt, contained a copper box with documents and mementos from local leaders and organizations for future generations.
Commanding General Malin Craig orders permanent library collections direct to each CCC company in Fort Douglas district. Libraries include forestry texts, dictionaries, and general reference works. three traveling libraries will move camp to camp with about 166 books each. Subscriptions to magazines and newspapers from home regions will accompany the corps. Stationery, writing materials, and athletic equipment will be provided as camps enroll.

Impressive funeral services were held Sunday in the Last Ward for Mrs Sally Ann Lowder wife of John Logan Lowder. Bishop W L Adams led the program with solos and prayers. She was born in Pangutcht and survived by six children two sisters two brothers and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The Duck Creek Heesea tic Camp on Utah highway 14 between Cedar Breaks and Bryce Canyon near Navajo Lake will be formally dedicated Saturday and Sunday June 24 and 25. Gov Henry Blood and District Forester Rutledge are expected to attend. The program includes band performances, talks by officials, prayers, and a variety of recreation activities across two days with community participation from several counties.
Four-H club work begins for the summer under the supervision of about twenty four club leaders according toARE Flazel Pendreth the total club organizer. Seven or eight clubs for girls will be organized and all girls between 14 and 18 interested are asked to contact Mrs Pendleton before Wednesday of next week.
Arowan's band earns a key spot on the program for the Duck Creek recreation camp dedication next weekend. Parents and others are urged to attend a meeting at the East Ward chapel Sunday after church to discuss transportation and arrange for the band's travel if possible.

The Sewing Salllies held their first meeting of the season on Tuesday at 23 o'clock at Mrs. Edward Matheson's. Six girls and three teachers attended. officers elected include Claudia Pendleton as president and Barbara Adams as reporter. next meeting will be at Pendleton's home to make costume slips.

Palmer of Cedar City is named for Tern County to assist debtors seeking relief via petitions to the United States District Court. The role aims to reconcile debtors and creditors fairly amid current economic conditions. Marriage licenses issued include Jay Powell Javan and others in Cedar City area.
