Welfare program launches chicken project with 250 six week old chicks arriving. Work and care divided among participants with Parowall East and West, yard adjoining the building designated for housing. Peters Gurr and George Bentley involved in setup. Rites Held for 85 Year Old Parowan Resident
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Mary B Pendleton 85 lifelong Parowan resident born February 3 1862. She married W Pendleton November 16 1880 and died March 6 1946. She was active in church and civic groups and left seven sons two daughters twenty grandchildren and thirty one great grandchildren. Burial followed at Parowan City Cemetery with a church program of hymns talks and solos.

Klea G Gunn Benson 50 wife of Roy Benson of Parowan died suddenly at home. Born October 20 1906 in Parowan she lived there all her life. Survived by husband six sons one daughter and three grandchildren, two sisters and father George R Gunn. Funeral in West Ward Chapel with Bishopric presiding. Pallbearers were her six sons.

Lt Col and Mrs A C Hatch attended a Beaver American Legion Post meeting at Ponderosa Park on June 10th. About 200 members and partners were present. The Young men of the Legion hosted and served a camp fire supper. District Commander Hatch installed the new officers.

Richard V. McBride 50 of Pocatello Idaho died early Thursday after a brief illness. Born November 24 1896 in Paragonah he lived in Cedar City until 1940 then moved to Pocatello. Survived by wife Elma three daughters and a son, nine grandchildren, a brother and four sisters. Funeral by McHan Harrison in Pocatello with burial in Paragonah City Cemetery later announced.

Fishermen are reminded that Parowan Creek draining into Panguiteh Lake will be closed all season while all creeks in Parowan Canyon remain open. A 400 pound planting of legal size fish was reported in Main Canyon Creek by Saunders M. Clark.

Utah Centennial Exhibits Displayed In Salt Lake City
Mrs Mable Williams her niece Marsha Williams and daughter La Rue Williams toured the Iron County Utah Centennial Exhibit in Salt Lake City sightseeing at the Home Arts Building on the State Fairgrounds. The group reported most entries won prizes and drew praise. The exhibit runs until June 19 and is worth a visit for Iron County residents. They also enjoyed the Tabernacle Pageant, calling it a beautiful sight.
