Armed Bandits Captured Near Parowan After Car Theft
Three armed desperadoes fled from a gas stop near Paragonah after a stolen 148 Ford was spotted. Deputy Arch Benson and Cedar City officers chased them through the foothills, disarming and captured the trio who were found with a revolver, knife and blackjack. The men, Lavern Potter and Joe Dall, were taken to Cedar for questioning. all were later revealed as non deserters and parole violators.

Funeral Services For John Meeks Held In Wyoming
Funeral services for John Franklin Meeks a former Parowan resident were held at Cowley Ward Chapel on May 24 directed by Bishop R Peterson. Speakers included his nephew Albert Wardel Wim M Stevens and Bishop Peterson. Meeks born June 1 1877 in Parowan was the youngest son of Atha and Susan Powell Meeks and grew up in Parowan where he attended public schools and participated in local activities.

Parowan students earned degrees or will receive them in June from Washington University and Brigham Young University. James Eugene Robinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. James C. Robinson, earned a Master’s in physics at Washington University in St Louis, with atomic research and teaching lab work noted. At BYU 7389 graduates included Homer Whitney, Grant Tortensen, Raymond Wiltsey, and Ardell Hyatt. Homer Whitney majored in business and will stay with Provo City Utilities through the summer as his employer awaits.

Funeral Services For Fay Hyatt In Parowan
Funeral services for Euphemia Fay Hyatt 67 were held in Parowan West Ward Chapel Tuesday under the Bishopric. Hyatt, born in Parowan November 3 1853 daughter of John J and Eliza Miller Hyatt, grew up there and studied art at Branch Normal School Cedar City and the Kéyster School. She married M E Knighton in 1907, later divorced, moved to Salt Lake City in 1925 where she resided until her death ruled an acute heart attack by attending physician Talbott.
