Church Music Training Course Starts in Utah Communities

The Church Music Committee announces a twelve week training program for stake and ward musicians in Panguitch Kanab Hurricane St George and Parowan beginning June 13 to June 17. Director George H. Durham will lead weekly sessions for choristers and organists at centrally located venues with stake presidents and ward bishops coordinating. Over 3 000 choristers and organists have completed the course with positive bishop and stake president feedback.

Heavy fish kill at Navajo Lake shocks Cedar City anglers

Reports say most or all fish in Navajo Lake are dead. Bill Sorensen of Glenwood hatchery first released the news after inspecting the lake for spring planting. D Cleo Dix of Cedar City observed about forty seven hundred dead fish along the shore, varying in size. A state fish and game department hydrologist will test to determine the cause, with possible implications for summer fishing and lake management including a higher dike. Mrs. Blanche Dalton Trammond travels to Salt Lake City to visit sisters Geatrice and Myra.

New Sire Purchased by Jersey Bull Assn

A new Jersey bull, just past yearling, was bought by the Parowan Jersey Bull Association from Nuttall dairy farm at Prova. The old bull was sold, funds used for the young animal, and a meeting set for Saturday night at the court house to arrange care and details. Several members and local residents attended visits and other livestock plans were noted, including sheep shearing trips to Morriana and departures for northern states.

Ada Stevens Married in Salt Lake Temple

Miss Ada Stevens daughter of Mr and Mrs Joseph Stevens of this city and Mr Own Hullinger of Rockford were married on Tuesday June 7th in the Salt Lake temple. They returned from the capital yesterday and a reception is held tonight in the West Ward church social rooms. They will move to Rockfield where Hullinger will operate a service station. Stevens has taught school in Vernal Uintah county after graduating from the University of Utah.

Exchange Club Urges Oiling Of Canyon Road

The Exchange Club at Hateguler discussed oiling Canyon Road from the Vermilion Castle camp to the forest boundary to reduce dust and traffic hazards. A committee was named to pressure county, state, and forest officials for oiling this season and to pursue further road improvements. The meeting also touched on possible new Forest Camp, a connecting road via First Left Hand Canyon, and Parowan’s potential county center.

Recreation program urged for Cherge city

WPA recreation program organizers urge wide participation from Young people and adults. Daily sessions run except Saturday at the school grounds with a large turnout already. A children's picnic is planned for Saturday at five. Community children are invited to bring their names. Men are invited to play baseball on Tuesdays and Thursdays from five until dark.

Local Couple United At Quiet Wedding

A quiet wedding last Saturday night united Arlo Holyoak and Georgia Halterman in marriage. The ceremony was performed by Bishop H L Adams at the bride’s mother’s home with only immediate family. A light lunch followed for those present. The groom is the son of Mr and Mrs Joseph F. Holyoak and the bride is the daughter of Mrs Ida P. Halterman. The couple, now living in the Madora Halterman home on the west side of town, are regarded as active young community members.
