Iron County Pursues Fish Lake Mountain Road Survey

A 35 member Parowan delegation urged Iron County to survey a possible route over Fishlake Mountain to Panguitch Lake, arguing it would cut Cedar City distance to about 35 miles and boost tourism. The commission promised to hire an engineer soon.

Parowan Garden Club Plans Iris Garden Visit

The Parowan Garden Club met at Mrs. Ross Guymon home on Friday June 7 to tour her iris garden and discuss hybridizing. A trip to Fillmore to visit the State Garden and its rose garden is planned for June 22, with Audrey Gilger coordinating interested participants.

Hulet Family Holds Reunion At Summit

The Hulet Family Reunion gathered at the Summit Ward Chapel on Monday June 10 with members from Idaho Arizona and Nevada. David Hulet of Bullshead Arizona led proceedings with 10:00 am and 2:00 pm meetings and a social in the evening. Noon lunch was provided by Parowan members and a hot meal by Summit relatives. officers including David Hulet president Mrs Aston Madsen Clark vice president and Mrs Eleanor H Adair secretary treasurer were reelected for next year. On Tuesday attendees spent time in St George for temple work.

Funeral Services Held For Edward Bentley

Funeral services were held in Provo for Edward William Bentley a Parowan native and World War I veteran who died in Salt Lake City after a short illness. Born October 17 1892 he moved to Provo in 1912 and retired from the post office as a mail carrier. Survived by his widow Dorothy Jex four sisters and three brothers services conducted by Berg Mortuary with burial at Provo City Cemetery following military rites by the American Legion.

The city dads approved Thales Brown as part time city recreation director to manage playground activities after hours as the school lacks a coach. F C Van Buren was asked to consider taking over swimming activities. Marlo Topham to hire a weed mower and arrange gravel trap cleaning. A new patrol car radio was authorized. Verda Adams reported about an 8000 dollar savings fund to invest in government bonds and cited one local business out of compliance with city ordinances. The city attorney was instructed to demand payment from the noncompliant business.
