At a long City Council meeting last night J B Dalton resigned from the council and explained his desire to be more exemplary. Officials said his departure follows completion of key city matters including securing a canyon power site. The council instructed the mayor and recorder to pursue bond sale contract issues with Halloran Judge Trust Co and review bond financing options.

Trap Shooting Promises Regular Sport For Parowan Club
Trap shooting last Wednesday proved fascinating for many boys, with Wm J Lowder winning first with five straight hits and eight of ten. R L Fenton also scored, despite a rough start, totaling twelve of twenty. To reduce costs, ammunition will be bought at wholesale. Beaver Cedar and St George clubs are invited to send five reps each to face Parowan on July Fourth. Governor Mabey Visits Bryce Canyon In Delegation Tour
Governor Charles R. Mabey led a party of fourteen to Bryce Canyon, a key Southern Utah attraction, to inspect land sought by the Union Pacific System for a hotel. He has said the canyon should remain a state heritage, pending first hand data before any decision, and was joined by Garfield County officials from Panguitch and Iron County delegates including Wilford Day and A T Jones.

Traffic Diverted From Buckhorn Flat Road
County Commissioner H L Adama ordered traffic diverted from the north end of Buckhorn Flat road after capping failed to bind. He said loose capping would be thrown off by passing cars and plans to haul clay and sprinkle it to bind the surface until repairs can be made to prevent damage this season.

Came Near Losing Eye in Trap Accident
Mr. R. L. Fenton narrowly escaped eye loss when a clay pigeon shattered his glasses and drove glass into his eyelid and eyeball while loading a trap for boys to shoot. The blow sent the trap and loader’s tools several feet, and the dug pit location contributed to the incident though no lasting eye damage occurred.

Mrs. Thomas D. Adams learns of her brother L. H. Redd a 67 year old San Juan County stockman has died after complications from flu and a head abscess. Gap Project Advances at Parowan Lake Drainage
Work progresses on the Parowan Gap drainage project led by Mr. Shurtz. By two weeks, the cut draining Little Salt Lake will be shallow enough for water to flow into the valley, with plans to divert incoming water via a lake bed cut to the gap. Also contemplated are canals to bring springs into the channel and a canal to remove mineral rich lake water to Mud Spring Canyon between H. L. and William Adams ranches.
