Janet Decker daughter of Mrs Ivan Decker won a coveted citizenship award at the Branch College ceremony for integrity leadership patriotism and service. Marsden of Parowan received a block A pin for music activity. State Highway Warns Motorists on June Vehicle Inspection Deadline

Dow, state highway superintendent, warns motorists they must have vehicles inspected by the June deadline or face expiration. No extension will be granted and drivers are urged to complete inspections to avoid penalties.

Paul Dalton Set To Graduate From School Of Pharmacy

Mr and Mrs Harley Dalton and Mrs Donald Dalton left Tuesday for Pocatello Idaho to attend graduation at the University where their son Paul Dalton will receive his degree and graduate from the school of pharmacy this week. Future plans remain undetermined.

City Improves Parowan Cemetery Grounds

Parowan City workers have cleaned and parked lots and planted grass on graves of those who prepaid, with lush green showing. Additional lawn planting is paused until a larger water line is installed, with plans to resume around August 1 and a goal of perpetual lawn maintenance for the cemetery.

City Council Approves Curb and Gutter Along Main Street

City officials at a recent public meeting ordered the street and sidewalks committee to continue curb and gutter construction from 300 to 400 north main street in line with the existing curb on the south side. Property owners have largely agreed to cooperate, with the city supplying gran1 cement mixer operator and supervisor while owners provide cement and extra labor. The plan could extend to nearby properties and irrigation ditch crossings, though no exact completion time is promised.

Local Baseball Teams Seek Players For Rivalry

North and South side games drew 17 to 16 and an 11 to 11 tie last Friday and Tuesday evening. Both teams need players to field a full squad and urge able bodied men to join. Games are Tuesdays and Fridays at 6 00 p m on the school athletic field with warmups after 5 45 p m.

Measles Rampant in Parowan Warns Precautions Urged

Health officials warn Parowan that measles remains highly contagious and will persist, urging isolation for at least seven days after rash appearance and asking residents to report early symptoms. The notice stresses protecting others, especially children, and the risk of serious respiratory complications. A Donkey Baseball game to benefit local groups is advertised for June 11 at the high school field with admission 50 to 80 cents.

Legion Post 20 Conducts Military Rites For Summit Soldier

Members of American Legion Post No. 20 serving Paragonah Parowan and Summit held military rites in Summit for Sgt Otto Keith Dalley the son of Mr and Mrs Otto P Dalley killed in action February 1945 during the French campaign Allied drive after Belgian Bulge. Funeral at Summit Ward Chapel directed by Bishop Farrow. Speakers included Gilbert Janson Jr Cedar City and Superintendentlanthus Wright with Bishop Farrow. A mixed chorus from Summit Ward sang and violin solo Schubert Serenade played by June.
