Parowan High School Auditorium hosts a charity East Ward play titled Modern Play with Purpose. The event features a cast led by Tom Griswold and Howard Low in New York City setting inside Mr Warren’s library. Admission encouraged with door contributions. open to ages 12 and up.

Thieves Sentenced for Cedar City Service Station Robbery

Samuel S Floyd and Ernest C Tittle pleaded guilty to robbing a Cedar City Flying J service station on July 1. They received sentences of less than one year to twenty years in the State Penitentiary. Judge WHTTL Hoyt stated no leniency due to abducting the attendant Pale Holyoak. Tuttle served in the Tos Air Corps at Lag Vers. Prisoners to be moved to the Penitentiary this week by Iron County officers.

Iron County Fair Committee Readies Plans For Season

Mrs Basil Gilger honored at wedding reception in Paragonah wheel auditorium on Saturday July 22. Out of town guests attended. Audrey wore a white satin wedding gown with lace yoke rosebud corsage. Clinton served as MC. Program included piano, readings, talks, vocal solos. Refreshments and dancing followed. Summer Band Closes Successful Session

The Summer Band School ends its session marked by June to Thursday with about one hundred students in each class. Limited instruction on drum majoring and twirling preceded plans for a fifty piece junior band next year. The senior band improved over last summer but the Sunday concert is canceled due to conflicts.

Weekly Story Hours For Local Schoolchildren

Children in grades 1 through 6 are invited to two story hours each Wednesday in August at the library. Librarian Mrs Pulala T Orton says students from Sarowan Pararanah and Summit will meet promptly at 4:00 p.m. for the first three grades and the fourth through sixth grades at 4:00 p.m.

Priesthood Quorum Entertains Departing Officer

Mr and Mrs Glenn Sargers longtime Summit residents honored by the 69th Quorum of Seventy at a Five Mile dinner. Sargers, a Utah State Health Department food and sanitation inspector, transferred from Provo district. They will relocate to Utah County’s main city.

Arthur Stone Dies Of Stroke at 62

Enoch Arthur Stones 62, longtime Parowan resident, died Sunday from a cerebral hemorrhage after being stricken Saturday. Born May 21, 1887, he cared for his father for thirty years, was a member of the L D S, and is survived by five siblings. Funeral services were held in Payson with burial in Salem Cemetery.

Mrs. Lola Henson Lea and two children of Watsonville California visit the Lucius Benson family here and will join her husband later for a ten day vacation. Mrs. Marvin Graff and her three children depart for Tooele and Salt Lake City to visit relatives for a couple of weeks. L. W. Mitchell of Provo spent the weekend here to honor John Mitchell and family returning from northern Utah. Jack Mitchell shows improvement after a month in the veterans hospital in Salt Lake City. Helen Hansen and family of Provo visited Beverly and Cyril Pendleton, with girls traveling Monday to Gryce Canyon to stay with Augusta Adams and sisters Joan and Blanche Renee. Iron County Fair and Horse Show Details Released

Details of the 1900 Iron County Fair and Horse Show outline prize money of over 2000 dollars and set dates August 1, 2 and September 1 and 2 for entertainment in Parewan with other events shifted. Exhibits span livestock crops fruits clothing canning crafts 4 H clubs and special handwork for those over 16 supervised by Mrs Bertha Mitchell with assistants. An arts crafts division covers leatherwork plastics ceramics painting photography jewelry and drawing. A Mid School and adult division offers prizes and ribbons. Horse show led by Ed King will be a major draw with parades on days two and three at 2 30 pm. All Iron County residents invited to participate. Continued on Page Five.

Regional Welfare Conference Set in Parowan August 26

The Virgin River Welfare Conference will be held in Parowan on August 26, announced by Stake President W Clair Rowley. The executive council meets at 9:20 am in the Wie Ward Chapel, with delegates to gather 11 to 2 for a noon luncheon hosted by Parowan Relief Societies. The Stake Quarterly Conference opens that Sunday evening with a welfare meeting and priesthood leadership sessions, two general Sunday sessions feature reports by Elders Lloyd Guymon Kendall Gorr Ralph Marsden and Temple missionaries Mrs Belle C Matheson and Mr and Mrs Thomas Rowley.
