Flood Wrecks Old Canyon Road but New Route Survives

An eight foot flood swept Bear Flat Canyon washing out portions of the old road to Cedar Breaks while the new auto road near Black Dugway largely withstood the flood. Workers faced near disaster as campsites were swept away and gear lost, but recovery is underway and travel is expected to resume soon with cars on the new route.

Community boys swim program planned at School House pool

Scott Matheson T C Meek and Seymour McAllister organize a twice weekly swimming period for boys ages 12 to 16 at the School House pool. Sessions run Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4 PM with no fee. towels and soap required. Supervisors will be one of the organizers and expenses sourced elsewhere. Businessmen may use the pool at 6:30 PM by paying a small fee and supplying towels.

Attorneys Protest Telephone Rate Increase Hearing in Cedar

Attorney H C Parcells and W Warner Mitchell attended the Public Utilities commission hearing on the local Telephone Company's rate increase application. About fifty patrons filed protests. Commissioner Stoutnoir oversaw the hearing with stenographer W L Cook reporting. a commission staff report and recommendations will follow to the commission meeting.

Wedding Dinner for John Anderson and Enna Skougard

Mr and Mrs Wm Anderson hosted a wedding dinner at their home Monday at eight. Honoring their son John and bride Enna Skougard of Parowan who wed Saturday. About fifty guests attended as roses and carnations decorated the rooms. Mrs Anderson assisted by daughters Ida Bretta and Retta served. gifts were received by the bridal couple. Out of town guests included Mrs Lizzie Skougard of Parowan and Mr and Mrs Clayton Rasmussen of Milford.

Sisters Reunite After 29 Years in Parowan Visit

Mr and Mrs Chas W Little and family from Uinta Basin visited Parowan to see Mrs Esther E Orton, sister of Mrs Little. This marked their first meeting in 29 years and both families enjoyed the reunion and time together.

Mr. H. Clance Lewis is reappointed by the Board of Education as county superintendent for the coming year at a salary of 3000 dollars plus traveling expenses. He also has the privilege of teaching part time at the B. A. C.

Day Farms Challenge to Paro Wat Residents in Games

The Day Farms Company invites Paro Wat residents to a baseball game a 100 to 220 yard foot race or any trick race for men on houses with acceptance by Saturday night. The note also discusses editorials and where to read them in the Times. Panguitch advertises a large twenty fourth celebration with the Lake.

Utah Land Commissioner Plans Bonds to Aid Farmers

Utah state land Commissioner John T. Oldroyd proposes using nearly 2.9 million dollars in unowned bonds to back five and ten year notes for farmers. He says banks cannot meet demand and loans would bear 6 percent or effectively lower rates via bond collateral, with options to accept partial payments and convert bonds into cash loans at 6 percent.
