Parowan City Council adoption sets Year 1528 tax levy at 24 mills with allocations: Bond Linking Fund 6, Bond Interest 6, Contingent Fund 5, Library 2, Streets and Sidewalks 2, Special Water 2, Improvements Guaranty Fund 1. Valuation for taxation around 388000. aims to save taxpayers money while funding obligations.
Dixie Power Co pays Parowan City over 500 dollars monthly for May to July for local plant power. June bill exceeds 550 dollars with June meter readings averaging 330 kilowatts daily. Calculations show about 563.40 dollars monthly at 1.25 per horsepower, implying a rate near a quarter of a cent per kilowatt. The company plans a new plant on the Virgin River at LaVerkin costing nearly 90 thousand dollars.
Mr and Mrs C L Pinder and family, former locals, were in town from Salt Lake City en route to California for a vacation. Wm E and Merrill Thornton and John Mickelson, recently back from sheep shearing, returned home. Mrs Caddie O Christensen arrived from Kanosh for a family visit.

Robert Davenport pled guilty in Justice Morris Court to possessing intoxicating liquor. He paid a 250 fine after arrest by the City Marshal and an assistant within the city limits on the East. Two other local boys, Jessa Mickelson and C. Applegate, were with him but had charges dropped.
Emil A. F. Malmberg proprietor of Parowad Bakery and Cafety plans to sell his city business interests to devote time to mining properties in the northern part of the state. He and a partner have held good claims for years, but after a Salt Lake City trip they bought other properties to develop.
Miss Laura Morris daughter of Mr and Mrs George D Morris of the city became the bride of William Reed Smith a prominent Beaver man at a quiet wedding on Monday afternoon of this week. The marriage was performed at the bride parents home by the father Justice of the peace with both families present. A wedding dinner followed and the couple left Tuesday for a honeymoon trip through Yellowstone with plans to stop in Salt Lake City to buy furniture for their new home.
Mrs Garfield Clark spent part of last week in Parto Wan visiting her parents Mr and Mrs F Evans and other relatives and friends. Her home is Cedar City.
Mr. George Robinson of Paragouah traveled to Parowan on Monday as a business visitor, according to local notices.
Mr Orwin Orton is home again after several months away most of which was spent in India.
Mr and Mrs L N Marsden and their son Albert plan a Yellowstone trip about the middle of next week with Mr and Mrs L Nelson Marsden Mr and Mrs Arthur Joseph and Mr and Mrs George H Churchbat accompanying.
Mrs Angus Morris assists in the Clerk's office and will help compute taxes after the month begins. Her role appears temporary as staff support continues through the early period.
Mrs Eilis Bentley underwent an appendectomy at the county hospital early this week and is recovering nicely. Mr Wilford Day and family traveled by car to San Angelo Texas where he attends a major sheep gate as a prominent consignor.
Ward couple returns from California to their home with a newborn baby born on the 15th. Mr and Mrs Delbert Woolsey were seen in the city late last week likely visiting Mrs Woolsey’s relatives, the George Bettridge family.
Mr and Mrs Edward Davia visited Summit on the week’s start. The Iran County Record notes Roy Nazer, former manager of the C S A Department store in Cedar City, resigned to join I BE Riddle Co. Warren Bulloch, a major stockholder, will manage the C S A for now.
The Parowan Pioneer Day events on July 24 include a 9:30 a.m. parade led by Rex C. Ward, a 10:30 a.m. public meeting, a 1:30 p.m. group lunch with free chocolate, and evening dances. The obituary notes Eugene Mitchell of Baker Oregon, formerly Parowan, died after illness at St Elizabeth’s Hospital. Funeral service set in South Baker LDS Church with interment at Union. Mitchell, 40, was manager of Skaggs Safeway stores and previously worked in Snohomish, Laramie, and Le Grande. He is survived by his wife Katie and three children, plus siblings and his father J. M. Mitchell.
A quiet wedding on Wednesday afternoon joined Mr. Frank Mickelson and Miss Garnetta Eyre in Parowan. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mickelson. the bride, daughter of Mrs. William Eyre. The ceremony took place at Bishop Maraden’s home. After Monday they will reside at John T. Mickelson residence, with warm wishes from friends.
J King Paramore prominent local sheepman died after a years long illness that left him unable to speak. Survived by daughter in law Mrs J A Paramore and three sons John Ambrose Golden and Frank of Parowan. Funeral services likely Sunday at 2 pm. Community offers sympathy. rT Judge Knox and Ray Robinson noted in brief items.
Miss Emma Shannon of the State Health Department spent several days in Parowan this month as follow up after a clinic for preschool children. She visited homes to ensure defects found were being corrected and notes many promises to have issues addressed before school starts. Dr. McKean joined to offer diphtheria typhoid and smallpox services at Relief Hall. he plans another visit Tuesday. Sheriff Leigh came from Cedar City on official business followed by Mr. Barton from Faragohna earlier in the week.
State Auditor John Ei ifelden with three aides visited Fatowan and Washington County offices early this week. Deputies audited county accounts while another pair worked with Washington County as the candidate for State Treasurer, Johnie, promotes his work ethic and expects a reasonable salary.

Dr. Macfarlane was summoned from Cedar City last Sunday evening to treat George P. Brown who suffered stomach and other troubles while Dr. Burton was away on a fishing trip. Brown is reported to be improving at present.
Mr and Mrs Thurman Gardner of Cedar City spent Saturday night and Sunday in Parowan with Mrs Gardner and the Wm C Mitchell Family.
Iron County's Board of Commissioners vows to fight the U P System over the Devil's Gate right of way in the county’s west end. Commissioner Williams says the railroad is moving tracks and threatening to abandon a state road built last year at a cost about 1700. The county argues the road existed before the railroad and should not be leased. the dispute may be raised in Salt Lake City around the 25th during other business.
In a letter to Wilford Bay, J. H W. Manderfield, Salt Lake Union Stock Yards general manager, proposes a Utah Rambouillet breeders party for the National Woolgrowers convention in Phoenix next January. He suggests taking a carload of Rambouillet stock to sell as an advertisement and urges local breeders to discuss the plan and attend Salt Lake City Ram sale. Parowan Ram bouillet center breeders should join a mass delegation to showcase their stock in Arizona and New Mexico, highlighting the season’s large Rambouillet consignments.
Mr. Lee Bager, a Pintura to Huurricane mail carrier, was accidentally shot at Andersons Ranch near the gertice station on Wednesday. The 34 caliber pistol discharged by another person. Bager suffered multiple abdominal injuries and survived surgery but faces poor prognosis.
