Miss Norma Benson daughter of Mr and Mrs Lucille Benson and Kenyon D Robinson son of Mr and Mrs James C Robinson united in marriage at the brides home last Saturday night Bishop Jesse W Guymen officiated in the presence of close family. The bride wore a peach colored dinner dress with sequin trim and corsage of gardenias and pink rosebuds The groom wore a similar style with a red rose corsage The reception followed at the Henson home with about 90 guests Elrea Clark and Eleen Davenport led the gift room Pearl Benson Valeria Holyoak and Josephine Paramore organized refreshments The newlyweds fled for a honeymoon to undisclosed destinations They will reside in Parowan where Kenyon assists family livestock and farming operations and will later stay at the Fred Smith home on 3rd East Street.

Maria Coombs Taylor Receives Centennial Award

Maria Louiss Coombs Taylor, 97, Parowan’s oldest citizen, received a Utah State Centennial Commission certificate. Born May 5 1850 in Columbus, IL, she crossed the plains in a Jos W Young Company wagon, married George Taylor in 1872, and lived in Parowan all her life with three of nine children, 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

Parowan Couple Celebrates 66th Wedding Anniversary

Herbert S Hyatt and Lucy Gunn of Parowan mark 66 years married with Sunday open house from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at their home. Married January 14, 1882 in Parowan, they have long served the community with Mr Hyatt as Justice of the Peace and City Sexton.

Leona Crawford and Ralph Halton Wed In Quiet Home Ceremony

Leona Crawford and Ralph Earl Halton were married at 6 p m Saturday January 10 at the Crawford home. The bride, oldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Carl L Crawford of Parowan, wore a white jersey wedding gown and carried roses and sweet peas. The groom, son of Mr and Mrs John Trais of Salt Lake City, works as a radio technician at station K D S A television department. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Worst Ward Relief Society rooms with a program led by the bride’s father. The couple will reside in Salt Lake City at TV South West. Out of town guests included Mr and Mrs John Trais and son Jack of Salt Lake City among others. The auxiliary meeting was postponed to January 22 at Mrs KR J Halterman’s home.

Young Matrons Club Revamps With Study Courses

Members of the Young Matrons Variety Club formerly the H S H Club met at Mrs Ralph Hulet's home on Thursday evening where Mrs Elaine Adama presented a program on Habits of Children. The club has adopted a semester plan with lessons across varied subjects and will meet next at Miriam Lister's home.

Parowan Literary Club Meets for Music Topic

The Parowan Literary Club held a regular semi monthly meeting on Wednesday evening January 7 at Anna Lyman's home. Georgia B. Mitchell led a lesson on Music's Contribution to the American Way of Life and refreshments were served. Special guests included Mrs Ida King Mrs Florence Benson Mrs Pat Peterson and Mrs Louise Palmer. The group had its last regular meeting the preceding Thursday at Mrs Orna Johnsons home with visiting and sewing.

The annual event at Cold end Losey Mall of the pew Parewiay Vbou will be held Friday to mark the MLA and M.Mern as hosts. The dance includes performances and a civil Que segment, with Heaton leading the program and the girls of the Mutus guiding activities.

Albert Anderson Dies In St. George

Albert Anderson dies at his home in St George after a long illness. He was a well known builder in the area and connected with Parowan and Washington County communities. Services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in St. George, with many local mourners attending the funeral.

Milford families visit and health updates in Parad​onal News

Paragonal News notes visits by Mr and Mrs Kenneth Harton and relatives in Milford, Thomas A Topham recovering after major surgery at Iron Co Hospital, Ephraim Dailey moved to Abe Veteran Salt Lake City in serious condition, kidney and heart issues. Mrs Betsey Boardman and others traveled to St George to see Robinson's sister Mrs Eliy Morris who is in poor health. Mr and Mrs Wilson hosted a Sunday party for about 24 guests with luncheon by Mrs bus, and the William L Daver family enjoyed a get together at Mrs Calvin Smith's home with several relatives. Mr and Mrs E Lamoreaux stopped in Parad ah on route to Orem and visited David A Lamoreaux senior in St George Hospital. Family members gathered at Sarah’s birthday celebration.
