District court for this County will open next Tuesday if Judge Burton arrives as scheduled. Jurors are drawn and the calendar printed with many criminal and civil cases listed, including State versus Frank Flurry, Wesley Robinson, Dean Cutler, O. M. Norris, and Lowery’s Cash Store, among others.
County Clerk W Clair Rawley Deputy County Attorney Clair Hulet and County Treasurer Clair Hulet drew thirty five jurors for the March term convening March 1. West Ward Relief Society officers reveal a new study topic titled The Women of The Dispensation of the Meridian of Time. The first lesson by Dean Richards is scheduled next Tuesday afternoon, with Mia Metta D. Stobinson performing a musical number. All members are invited to attend.
The Parowan High School senior class will present Booth Tarkingtons four act drama Clarence on Tuesday evening March 1. The cast has worked diligently and the production is promised to be a fine show. Mr Wilard Day left for Salt Lake City this week for a short business trip and will attend a UA C board meeting during his absence.
The Mutual Improvement Association schedules a patriotic Sunday program in the East ward Sacrament meeting on February 27 featuring a Florence Joseph piece A Perfect Tribute and songs by scout and Beehive choirs. It also includes Sayings and Stories of Washington and Lincoln, plus a male quartet.
Mt Pleasant hunters unable to attend due to illness. Local club canceled the big Friday rabbit hunt and banquet planned for members and visitors. The dance after the banquet will still be held.
Local trap shooters posted solid scores at Saturday afternoon practice with several players reaching the mid to upper teens and twenties. Upcoming Saturday noon match promises free pellets and ammo for the top scorer, with the second high scorer earning ammunition.
Agnes M. Hargrave wins two claims against T. Leigh and Wm Fryer Hill Forbes and Forbes. Jury awards 1040 dollars to Hargrave on first action and 650 dollars against Forbes on second. Sheriff Leigh faces 100 dollar judgments. Defendants consider appeal after January Cedar City trial.
Appointments for registrars of vital statistics in multiple precincts for 1927 and 1928 were made on the recommendation of the County Physician J W Bergstrom. Names include Enoch, Kavarra Lund, Matthew Batty, Roy Hyatt and others, with several serving as health officers in their precincts.
The Westward Relief Society held its regular meeting on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Dean M Fitchard led the Social Service lesson with Pheebe Taylor giving the program. Mrs. Mary Adams, second grade teacher, supervised fourteen children in a Washington’s birthday program. Mr. Joseph Holt arrived from Enterprise with seed grain and reported promising planting conditions ahead.
Increased patronage at the Southern Utah Dairy Company's cheese factory requires new rat and press to handle incoming milk. Original equipment reached capacity as business grows, with five cans dispatched to new customers on Monday.
Secretary of State reports 60 000 motorists in Utah have not procured the 1927 license plate as of the 16th of the month. In the next fifteen days an average of 3 000 licenses daily must be issued to avoid delinquency and fines. Iron County residents may be among those delayed. Do it now to avoid penalties and license denial.
At the Elders quorum meeting Bishop H L Adams announced the Blake presidency would divide the quorum. John G Page was selected quorum president with Paul M Adams and June Tomham as contacts and Roy Moore as secretary. Rex Ward will be retained as president with new counsellors and secretary to be chosen soon despite Bishop Marsden being out of town. Nearly forty members attended, a large turnout for years.
Dr Anderson of Cedar City paid his membership fee to rejoin the Parowan Gun and Red Club for the year. A noted rabbit hunter, he had been a member for years but left last year. officers welcome his return to active member status.
The County Clerk issued marriage licenses to Edgar M. Clark of Parowan and Delorene Lee of Panguitch, and to Loraine Pendleton of Cedar City and Edna Turnbeaugh of Washington, who fled to Sherwin Bradshaw and Marie Wood of Cedar City.
Promptly at 8 o clock on Saturday evening the West Ward WI A Recreation activity will be held at the Opera house. All residents over 16 are invited to join in an evening featuring a one act play Tha Unequal Yoke with named cast, readings, vocal numbers, and social dancing afterward. Ladies to bring lunch for two. no admission charge.

The program featured welcome by Joseph Steven and songs by Violet Sievanna and Bel Brimos. Refreshments included sandwiches, pickles, coke and coded treats. A rumor links Johnny Lawde Jr to California seeking work with actor Jack Holt.
