County Road and road program updates discussed at meeting
Commissioners heard delegations and named a county road head to oversee the road program and maintenance. A plan to review and adjust monthly work with the supervisor was approved. Proposals included improving Bear Valley access, resurfacing a highway segment, and expanding road construction with state cooperation.

Parowan Red Cross Roll Call Head Named
Latlin D. Orton, manager of the Utah Service Station, is named chairman of the 1944 Red Cross Roll Call in Parowan, with Ned Sargent heading countywide drive. The county quota is $7,000 and Parowan and Paragonah are allotted $1,250 of that. Orton works on plans to push Parowan over the top.

Service Held Wednesday For Pvt Carl B Bayles
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the West ward chapel for Private Carl B Bayles who died Thursday at Camp Barkeley Texas from meningitis. The service featured mixed choirs, a solo, and tributes from Paragonah and St. George. burial followed in the Paragonah cemetery with burial rites by Sergeant LeRoy Adams. Correction issued: the wife’s parents are Mr and Mrs Willard Lund of Paragonah, not Merrill Lund.

The comedy drama Behind the News in three acts was directed by May Burt and Morris Rowley and pleased the large audience. Bombers Crash Takes Second Cedar Aviator
A mid air collision between two bombers at Ardmore Oklahoma last Saturday killed a Cedar City aviator. Robert N Bulloch son of Mr and Mrs Peter Bulloch was a BAT bomber pilot and only one crew member remains unaccounted. Arrangements for the funeral will be made on the arrival of Mrs Bulloch. Bulloch born January 14 1919 in Cedar City attended Cedar City schools and the B A C He joined the Army Air Corps in August 1942 and earned his wings November 3 1943 at Ellington Field Texas. He was set to graduate from the Ardmore combat school February 27 and is survived by his wife and parents a brother at Camp Adair Oregon three sisters and a grandmother of Cedar City.

AAA to Cooperate in Post War Survey
The Agricultural Adjustment Agency will cooperate with the Committee of Economic Development in a March survey of postwar farm employment and improvements.
