Board of County Commissioners Holds Two Day Meeting

The County Board held a two day meeting to finish business on tax deed land, abstracting titles, and tax cost sharing with taxing units. February Meeting Postponed for Civig Clubs of Southern Utah

The February meeting of the Associated Gric Clubs of Southern Utah has been postponed. James M. Sargent, president of the association, cited statewide legislative duties at the State Capitol as the reason. Committees are overextended handling new Utah legislation, keeping members from leaving Salt Lake City.

Snow Would Raise Officers Salaries in Utah Legislature

Senator Glenn B. Snow introduced SB 219 to raise maximum salaries of county recorders clerks and attorneys in certain counties. He voted no on three bills, absent or not voting on several others, and supported measures to restrict transport and tax refunds while urging federal help to curb Colorado river tributaries. House members aligned with him on library district funding and unpaid commissions, with mixed votes across the session.

Laboratory Opens at Tron County Hospital Branch

A new bacteriological laboratory opens as a branch of the State Board of Health, funded jointly by Tron County and the state. Equipment installed at Iron County hospital will provide 24 hour pneumonia typing, enabling faster diagnosis and treatment. Ralph Williams, formerly of Salt Lake City central lab, will head the bacteriology. The unit aims to cut pneumonia deaths by early serum use and will operate with state salary support and county maintenance costs.

Robert Bentley Dies From Bullet Wound in Fillmore

Robert Bentley, 46, son of George E. Bentley, was found dead at his Fillmore home from a gunshot wound from a 303 caliber rifle. An inquest ruled self-inflicted. prior head injury from a falling rock may have contributed. Burial planned in Cesar City. funeral services at 11 a.m. at the 1st Ward chapel. Survived by widow Ruth Leigh, two children, and his father plus three brothers Clyde, Elmo, and another Bentley.

Parowan Stake Conference Attended by Ward Representatives

A large turnout from each ward of Parowan attended the quarterly conference sessions. George H. Durham and Fiebert B. Maw led Sunday school while Mary M. Jack headed the primary group. Companions met at 8 36 and 10 00 a m for talks on ward work and reports from stake readers and welfare programs. The Sunday session featured the General Board president and Mrs Durham, with other board members present.

Utah Legislature Nears Halfway Mark In 1933 Session

The Utah legislature approaches the halfway point with about 70 bills acted or awaiting action. Five measures have become law with executive approval. 16 more await gubernatorial action.
