The Shrowan Stake will hold a quarterly conference February 18 at the City Third Ward chapel. Stake President David L. Sargent announces general Priesthood meetings for Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthood members, a Mothers and Daughters session, and evening programs with visiting speakers from church headquarters. Religious and community events include a Valentine Ball next week in West Ward and a Ghosted musical production at Recreation Hall. Bennett Named Trustee on Utah Education Board

Principal B. Bennett spent a week in Salt Lake City with Burns Finlinson representing the Southern Utah Teachers Association. Bennett was named a trustee to fill an unexpired term, marking the district’s first representation on the board. He and Finlinson proposed revising officer election plans and Bennett was assigned to a committee to work out details.

Tax Commission Rep to Visit Parowan Next Tuesday

E. W. Southwick of the State Tax Commission will be in Parowan next Tuesday February 13 from 9 am at the county courthouse to issue motor vehicle licenses. Mitchells Leave To Fill Short Term Mission

Mr and Mrs Walter C Mitchell depart for Salt Lake City and the L D S Mission Home for a two week period to prepare for a short term mission in Southern California. This is their fourth mission for the church with Mrs Mitchell likely joining for the first time. They are longtime community activists who recently celebrated a Golden Wedding anniversary.

Parowan City Council to study power plant rate rises

Parowan City Council discussed a needed raise in power and light rates amid rising employee salaries and supplies. They noted Parowan remains cheaper than most municipally run plants after 100 kilowatts, planned renewals with Paragonah, and a long‑standing surplus power sale deal with Southern Utah Power. Service Men's Wives to Give F W Sacrament Program

Parowan Service Men's Wives club will present a program at the East Watch Sacrament meeting Sunday afternoon February 11. Speakers include Anne Gurr Rawson Bess Ward Holt and Carol Adams Lawrence with Barbara Smith Hunt reading the program, a group song and an organ solo by Jean Mickelson. Bishop Jex W.
