A Saturday night reorganization meeting and special program for the Local Farm Bureau will be held in the high school auditorium. Educational exhibits, musical numbers, and talks by Rena B. Maycock and a Farm Bureau official will feature the evening, with refreshments at the conclusion. Everyone is invited and urged to attend.
Governor Maybe and state legislators visit Lund en route to Cedar City to inspect the Cedar City branch project. Watson and survey crew worked near Cedar City despite heavy snow. The R R Co finished a flood culvert to curb past floods. Prospects rise as bids approach for the Cedar Branch grading contract. New offices planned for Construction Co. Local business changes include Jack Chapman taking Land Drug Co. manager role.
At the Iron County Woolgrowers Association annual meeting Jos B Dalton was re elected president James C Robinson Jr vice president Edgar Benson secretary treasurer and J MM Ward and Thomas Davenport advisory board members The holdover board members are I B Robinson Paragonah James C Robinson Jr Parowan and Albert Lundell Cedar These officers together form the association leadership Retiring secretary treasurer Clark Orton declined re election Forest officials said next year the number of sheep grazed by local permittees will be cut by 5000 with Cedar Canyon entirely closed during spring grazing hurting local permittees who depend on that area for brief grazing periods The reduction will come from permittees with permits exceeding the protective limit of 500 head and will be based on excesses Mace Dodge and other forest officials met with the group to discuss the impact and seek solutions.
At a Iron County Woolgrowers Association meeting held in the Court room last night, members criticized the forest service move to withdraw Cedar Canyon from the grazing district. A resolution was adopted calling for reconsideration and directing Jos B Dalton and James C Robinson Jr to press the matter with Ogden and Cedar City officials to seek an alternative solution. The report also notes the birth of a baby boy to Mr. and Mrs. Laban Dart on Monday night in Teaver.

The Seed Show runs February 12 through the week, while the Poultry Show opens February 15 and extends to the roundup’s end. Visitors from outside Cedar City receive special lodging and Round-up rates. The program outlines Conjoint Sessions, Special Farmers Convention Sessions for men, and Special Housekeepers Conference Sessions for women.

Douglas Orton Mitchell, 19, third son of Mr and Mrs Wm C Mitchell, died of pneumonia at his home after a week long illness that started with a cold. A Parowan High School junior and basketball guard, he showed zeal on delirium and hoped to play Friday night. Survived by parents four brothers and six sisters, funeral planned for Thursday at 2 p.m.
A five member committee from both legislature branches, Governor Charles Maybe, and UA C President K G Petersen toured Cedar City and discussed the future of the school. They aimed to influence state funding, and Parowan and Paragonah delegates joined locals to convey the locality’s stakes. The visit reportedly shifted many officials toward preserving the state institution.
