Government Stallions Considered For Local Area Sire

Utah Utah Arizona Nevada and California officials visited Cedar City to discuss placing a government stallion here under the Remount Service. Colonel McClure outlined program scope costs care and breeding goals with local horsemen and the Chamber of Commerce. He noted available animals include two thoroughbreds and an Arabian with potential transfer to local mares and Cedar City facilities.

A C Team Begins Practice Trip to Southern Utah

Night Telephone Service Established With Reduced Rates

Beginning this week local exchange patrons gain continuous day and night service with reduced rates for long calls after 8 30 pm and after midnight. Frank and Mrs. Matheson moved near the office to aid night operations. Mountain State Tel and Tel Co announces about 50 percent cuts on calls 8 30 pm to midnight and about 75 percent 12 midnight to 4 am. Billing shifts to the start of each month. Santa Visits Pxtowan Meeting House Christmas Eve

Santa Claus will attend a public gathering at the meeting house at 5 o clock on Christmas Eve. He will hand out candy to all the children and be greeted by singing prayers and remarks from WL Adams and others. The program includes a Christmas story, a chorus, a reading, and a children’s tree. The event aims to finish by evening so families can return home promptly.

Ray Lyman to Sing in Messiah at Logan

Parowan chorister Ray Lyman known for Utah Agricultural College joins Wandels Messiah in Logan on December 29 under Logan musical directors. He will sing in the chorus with the USC Men’s Glee Club among about 200 voices. He plans January training in Smith Hughes work while teaching animals at Logan High School, earning ten college credits and a teaching certificate by March 13.

A Friday morning program by the P I S Junior class featured a school song by the student body a prayer by Golda Gurr a saxophone solo by Albert Holt and a stirring speech by Mr Van Tren.
