Marie Adams daughter of Mr and Mrs Ray Adams was chosen Miss Parowan in the contest here Thursday evening She will represent Parowan in the county wide Miss Iron County contest at Cedar on August 31 Six girls competed and finalists were judged by four Beaver judges The winner will attend the Coronation Ball at CSU Fieldhouse on August 31 with the Miss Iron County title and a 100 CSU scholarship plus an expense paid trip to Salt Lake City Adams has been active in student affairs and is a member of Phi Rho Omega sorority

Counties to share 64 thousand from Dixie National Forest funds

Dixie National Forest will allocate 64 475 dollars to Iron Garfield Kane Plute Washington and Wayne counties as their share of 1956 net receipts. National Forests must return funds for roads and schools, with Dixie ranking third in the Intermountain region for total receipts of 1956. Major source was timber sales at 206 840.35 dollars. grazing fees totaled 49 073.45 dollars.

Mr and Mrs Douglas Far row and sons of Idaho Falls visited here a week with family and friends. Douglas is son of John Farrow. Services Held For Accident Victims In Paragonal

Joint funeral services were held in Paragonal on Saturday August 25 for Mrs Sarah Robb Murie and two year old Marcia Jo Smith killed in an automobile crash near Price last Tuesday. Mrs Murie and her sister Mrs Katherine Smith and their five Salt Lake City children were en route to New Mexico to visit another sister. Mrs Robb, born July 2 1923, lived much of her life in Paragonah, later in Salt Lake City with three children Charles Douglas and Ellen Marie Dalton survived. Marcia Jo Smith daughter of Katherine Robb and Roger Smith, born August 14 1954, survived by parents and one brother John Scott Smith. Mrs Smith, seriously injured, moved to a Salt Lake City hospital. Charles and Douglas to remain in Paragonah with relatives, Ellen Marie Dalton to stay with aunt and uncle Mr and H E Wallace of New Mexico.

Fireside program set by Parowan Third Ward MIA

A seven lesson gospel course based on a mission aries program from the L D S church will be offered to M Men and Gleaners starting Sunday night in Parowan. The fireside is hosted by Mr and Mrs Marvin Graff and will begin at 7 p m at their home. All M Men and Gleaners are urged to attend.

Paragonah State Trooper Injured Falling From Ladder

State Trooper J. Lowe Barton was badly injured last Thursday when he fell from a ladder while trimming a tree at his home in Paragonah. He was taken to Iron County hospital with a broken back. He remains hospitalized as his condition improves.

Fourth daughter born to Mathe family at Tron County Hospital

Iron County Fair parade promises historic Labor Day spectacle

Parowan hosts its biggest Iron County Fair event with a grand Labor Day parade at 10 am featuring floats from multiple communities, Miss Iron County and local honorees, plus marching bands and horse riding clubs. Organized by D A Stones and committee, the route through main street includes miniature floats, crowd control by police, and detours on highways. Thousands are expected to attend as residents show strong support for the parade and fair activities.
