The State Board of Big Game notes a recommendation to open Parowan and nearby areas to hunting this fall for buck deer only from October 1 to 30, with permits issued for 500 doe deer in designated zones. Resident permits cost 3, nonresident 5, and licenses remain valid through general hunting stations from 7 am to 5 pm daily. An elk hunt on Cedar Mountain is canceled this year due to congestion.

Mr and Mrs Rex Lloyd reside in Boulder City Nevada where they were married recently. Mr Lloyd has returned to power plant work at Boulder M. Mrs Lloyd remains and will resume management of Day's Salon of which she is the ser and which was leased to Kia Eva Marshall of Minersville. Mrs Lloyd is making alterations at the shop and will operate it as before she left.

Mother of Local Man Dies at Circleville
Mrs. Rachel Applegate, mother of James Applegate of this city, died at age 89 one day the first of the week at a daughter's home in Circleville. She had been blind for years and lived with relatives. Funeral Thursday afternoon in Chaseville drew James Applegate, Mrs. Roland Holyoak, Mrs. Gladys Benbon, and Mrs. Eva Robinson from here. They spent the summer near Arthur, Nevada, tending a ranch and will return next week to care for several thousand head of livestock after wintering at the ranch. Brother Whitney, who spent the summer there, will also return home.

Exhibits of sheep and other Myestock classes at the Annual Ramboulliet Show will be entered by boys from 4 H clubs and Future Farmers of America county groups. The General Committee announced cash prizes for winners in this department and a countywide canvass to boost entries. Pea Harvest Reaches Peak This Weekend in Iron County
The Pacific Producers Inc of San Jose is harvesting 1000 acres of green peas in Iron County with about 800 pickers. Four or five carloads of peas are loaded daily, crews work in Parowan Cedar City and Shearading, with packing at Cedar City. Ice is shipped to refrigerate outbound cars as needed. The county employs around 1000 people for harvesting, trucking, packing and grading. Local and outside picker confusion has been resolved and the harvest proceeds well.

Local Growers Assured of Sale for Seed Potatoes
Mr J T Lyell of Moorhead Minnesota arrived in Cedar City from California to meet with local growers about certified seed potatoes and marketing plans. He noted progress in fields and storage pit under construction at the Cedar City railroad siding and said all certified seed could be sold with adequate storage. The note dates harvest to ensure delivery through April 16 1939. Also Barbara Smith hosted a canyon party at Vermillion Castle Camp with twenty Cedar City guests for a birthday celebration, featuring a chicken supper prepared by Mrs Smith and Mrs Anna Cawood of Selgman.
