Iron County political parties ready for the September 14 Primary. Howard Joseph of Parowan was edged out in the two year commission race. Republicans field Jess Guyman incumbent and Mary Lyman for the short term post with other nominees set for the Legislature and county offices. Democrats choose Florence Benson or Eugene M. Orton for county recorder and face separate nominees in November.

Authorities Announce Parowan Stake Conference Dates
Thorpe B. Isaacson of the Presiding Bishopric will represent General Church authorities at the Parowan Stake Quarterly Conference August 28 and 29. Welfare department representatives will conduct a welfare meeting at 6 30 p m Saturday in the 12 Ward Relief Society rooms. A Priesthood session for Aaronic Priesthood work is at 8 p m in the Chapel. Sunday sessions include 10 a m at Parowan Third Ward with Primary Home Builders and Train Builder groups performing, and 2 p m at Enoch for chapel dedication ceremonies. MIA convenes at 7 3 p m in Parowan Third Ward with a special program planned. Details to follow.

Six Killed In Iron Co. Worst Crash
Six people died in a morning collision north of Paragonal on Highway 91. A six month old survivor, Steven Townsend, rode with the Townsend family, while Arthur Wyman and LaVerne Weaver of the Navy were in the other car. Weaving driver Gordon Farnsworth and state troopers described the crash as a high speed head on. The wreck welded the cars together with Townsends on a line to Idaho, the report noted.

Parowan Third Ward Scouts from troop 43, Boy Scouts of America, left for Camp Maple Dell in Payson Canyon to join the Utah National Park Council encampment. Under trained supervisors they will spend a week camping, craft, hiking, boating, fishing, and related activities with fellow troops. Mr and Mrs H Revere Robinson announce the marriage of their daughter Janine to Gordon Ray Manzione son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Manzione Beaver. The double ring garden ceremony was held Saturday evening at the brides parents residence Bishop Victor Robinson officiated in the presence of family and close friends. The bride wore a white net gown with a ballerina length skirt and satin jacket plus a pearl trimmed cap veil and gladioli bouquet. Miss Shirley Robinson was maid of honor with bridesmaids Merna Halterman Hettie Ann Jones and Doris McBride in pastel dresses with harmonizing bouquets. Nancy Robinson was the flower girl and Frank Manzione was best man. A buffet supper followed the ceremony.

Mary O. Mitchell Honored At Last Rites
Mary Selena Orton Mitchell died at her Parowan home Sunday after a long illness. Born December 1 1870 in Parowan she was the last surviving Orton child and widow of Walter C Mitchell. She helped raise a large family, served in ward Primary and Relief Society leaderships, and earlier fulfilled a mission to California. Survived by eight children twenty eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren with many friends paying final respects.

Carson's All West Show Tops Iron County Fair Entertainment
Buss Carson and his All West Show of Hollywood will headline the Iron County Fair at Parowan City Race Track on Saturday afternoon Sept. 4. The act features six performers, seven trained horses and three dogs with trick riding roping and specialty acts. Fair opens Sept. 3 with Arts and Crafts committees led by Mrs Ola Robinson and Homemaking entries due for judging Sept. 2 at 1 p.m.
