Parowan 4-H Sheep Club under Clarence Pendleton won the Skit contest at the Duck Creek encampment with a two deep lineup and a banana finale after makeup. Two members Sanford Topham and Charles Adams also won in the wood sawing event. Married couple Bord L Mitchell and his bride were honored in Cedar City at an LDS Institute ceremony with a reception at the groom’s parents’ home.

Firemen's Ball Planned in Parowan to Raise Funds
Parowan announces the first annual Firemen's Ball on Saturday August 19 to raise funds for the new 14000 firefighting truck and equipment. The event will feature a modern dance orchestra at the Brown Ward and honors the Parowan fire crew led by Chief Saunders M Clark with a large local volunteer committee and cooperation from nearby communities.

Iron County Sets Tax Levy At 33.5 Mills
Iron County approves a 33.5 mill levy for 1950 on property outside cities. The total includes 13.40 mills for Iron County School District and 14.02 by the State for schools, plus county general, road, indigent, library, airports, and water engineering funds. Parowan total rises to 64.5 mills, Cedar City 69.8, Paragonah 47.5. Kanarraville未 submitted its town levy. Final approval by the State awaits the taxing units' figures per County Clerk W. Clair Rowley.
